Im Bco and have no problems with LS and dont plan on leaving unless they fire me! I make a dam good living here and like I saw earlier in this thread Its up to you whether or not you make money. You run as hard as you want(legaly) and stay out or in as long as you want/(no calls to the house no emails) its on YOU!
As far as EOBR yes all new leases have to get them. As far as old BCOs only if you cant do your logs right and keep your books straight!
As far as help with breakdowns, LS has bailed me out of a few tight places!
When you call the Chrystal Palace you get real people with real awnsers to help you.
Ls sets you up for succsess and gives you the tools to do it! Its hard to fail here unless you just dont listen to the suggestions from orientation, CABS class and the online stuff.
research it and make an informed decision.
The only guys that i found that dont like LS either didnt qualify, got fired or cant follow the rules!

I read that guys quote and landstar has its good and bad but overall this is my third lease with them. Landstar does have your back if you fall into a hard place. I see that guy said he gets more money being a broker carrier which i dont believe at all. He probably hauls the stuff we won't. He probably was rejected by landstar and thats why he has so much bad stuff to say.

apparently youve never worked for LS and talking out your bottom end! Yes you need your Hazmat, No you dont need a tanker endorsment BUT it is advisable! anything that hauls liquids requires it, hemmetts, totes, used tanker trailers ( due to residue and left overs in pipes) used storage tanks ect.
anything that is new and unused doesnt.
As far as broker board rates our rates are alot hire thatn whats posted on the outside public boards. That was another determing factor which made me come over here. was pulling more LS board frieght and was loosing money not getting house rates

Don't kid yourself. Landstar sends out lots of good freight to outside carriers that no BCO in their right mind would refuse to haul. I've hauled lots of it. See lots of Landstar large caars with the own trailers hauling the same freight. They don't pick and choose good freight for BCO's bad out to outside. The freight needs covering and they cover it however they need to outside or not. And none of that high dollar spot stuff I or those other BCO's are hauling is Landstar direct contract stuff. Every bit of it comes from 3pl's.

When the time is right and I get a rig. Landstar will be one of the carriers I would be looking at. Spoke with a husband and wife team and they showed me the LS Boards and said nothing be great things about them. Home time is awesome, they make great pay, over all company is great.

The broker carriers can say what they want but agents always ask am i landstar or outside carrier so they can keep more of the money.

Gross pay BCO versus outside carrier means zilch. I've compared with BCO's on two different loads both of us had picking, dropping same place. They looked at me like I was an idiot running for several $ hundreds less gross than them. By the time company cuts were taken out guess who came out pulling in 25 cents a mile more to the truck? Not the BCO's... And I have to get really aggressive on rates to do that. If I had my own authority it would be a piece of cake making out much better. And I'm sure there are a few, likely very few, BCO'S that beat me out now and again. Really what a truck earns regardless if you're BCO or not comes out to how good are you the individual at pushing rates and being able to walk when its not right.. And Landstar is the model of free market their loyalty is to the customer. That is not to say they don't have good freight that never goes outside, they do,but like i said you are kidding yourself if you think garbage is all that goes out. They ship lots and lots of good stuff on outside.

I thought this thread was about LS being a good or bad co to work for.... It always end up about rates. Just about every co and every O/O haul cheap freight. There isnt a number you can put on frieght. I can say i make 8.00 per mile, but its always somone going to say thats cheap. If your happy at that co and making a profit , then its a good Co. just my .02
