You want to talk about bad companies! Ill tell you what; this one should go down in the record books. It is the worse company ever. It is owned by a crooked, scam artist. I worked for this company for almost 2 years. I will admit in the beginning I was happy. I was making decent money for someone who just came out of school. Driveaway companies all stink but this company takes the cake. When you are contracted with this company you are contracted as an IC. Why i have no idea because the amount of control that Apollo has on their 200+ drivers is insane. Every time you turn around its where are you, are you delivered yet, hurry back, ect. IN the beginning i worked with a crew. now being out of school you arent suppose to work certain hours. yeah they dont care. They like to make you drive illegally. You are supose to have 10 hrs off duty. you start off in a crew so for this i will use the word YOU. this is how a typical day goes for an apollo driver.
You get up at 9 pm to meet with your crew of 3 other guys at the pick up spot. You leave from that spot which is in PA at 10pm. You drive all night. 14 hrs later you drop of the truck to AL. Now its 2 pm. You hop in a cab with the other three guys to go to the airport which is 2 hrs away in TN. so now its 4 pm. You are responsible for the rental that you are to pick up. You pick up the rental which has a fuel tank(as long as its from the airport). that takes about twenty minutes. Now the 4 of you get in the compact car and start driving back. Now at this point you are considered OFF duty according to apollo. But Apollo is paying for the rentals. DOT will tell you technically you are on duty not driving. But anway you start driving back at like 4:30 pm. you still have 12 hrs of driving left to do to get back to PA. which is what you are suppose to do since the company wants you back ASAP. You stop for food and then start back driving. YOU are still driving while the other three are sleeping. Then you switch back and forth drivers. By the time you get back its 3 am cuz you are speeding to get back. While you are all on your way back you get a phone call from the "dispatcher" telling you that the 4 of you are going some where else and need to start back up by 10 am or earlier. You get back to the orgin at 3 am drop off everyone and go home with the rental because at that point you just want to sleep. get home at 4 am get back up at 9 am and start all over again.
They pay you car miles not trucker miles. They are to pay for the fuel and any other expense you incurr during the trip. then at the end of the week you get a pay settlement. by the time you are to be paid you look at your settlement and half the trips are missing, expenses are not paid. and you fight with the "driver manager" whom does NOTHING but make you feel like your an idiot.
I am trying to find other apollo drivers. if you are out there please reply to this post
You+Apollo logistics/transer=loss of sanity

I used to drive for Apollo, I know what you are talking about. They would do the most stupid things I have ever seen. They still owe me over 300 dollars, I guess I will have to sue them but they will pay ten fold then. The pay was very bad most times 100 a week my best week was 400. I should have made 400 every week. This is the main reason I quit was the low pay. The last time I worked there we were taking trucks out of the Morgan truck yard at Janesville Wisconson and I stayed at the motel for one whole week with no work and no pay. It was a run-down Motel 6 too.

Try writing better by breaking up your paragraphs to make your prose more readable. Alot of good information contained in other threads on this board relateing to new and used truck driveaway - plug company name into search function. -

Companies like this would not exist if it werent for the naive and stupid.

True, but what are the new drivers to do.It's either do what the company says or get fired and move on to the next company and the next.Companies like this one get away with their illegal practices. They have loop holes and our so called law will not defend the drivers like they should but trucking companies they will because they have all that revenue money.

I was told before hand that this company was like this, but I was desperate and needed some kind of work, that's why I did it any way. I had a lot of fun working there, just no pay at 21 cents a mile and very little miles. The group I was in were a good friendly group.

For that kind of small money why the hell would you eve do drive away? Sounds like you guys should have just gone to a company with assigned trucks, or am i missing something?

I currently drive as a independent driver for Apollo, and I read a lot of negative post. Well I have to say Apollo may not be the best company but there are other companies that are worse. Yes, they have you (dead head) a lotand no you do not get paid for dead heading but they tell all drivers that befor you start! And the pay isn't the best but you make enough to live. Myself, I can not complain. I think most of the complaints by drivers aand ex drivers (most of these complaints) come from many of the drivers that can not or do not manage their money properly. You are a independent driver when you drive for Apollo. If you want the miles you go where the trucks are, if you do not want to go there you tell your dispatcher! ..
And the pay.... you are paid by Apollo (X) amount of dollars for a trip. Most times they over pay you 20.00 dollars to 40.00 per trip. If a driver manages their (pre payment) for the trip you should have cash left over. The drivers must keep ( ALL THEIR RECEIPTS ) for the trip. Here is how it works.
Apollo gives a driver a trip. They tell the drivers up front how many miles they get paid for (and their milesare correct give or take a few miles) Apollo then loads ( let's say ) 225.00 on the drivers ComData card.
200.00 of that is trip money for fuel, toll roads etc. 20.00 is a personal advance for food. And 5.00 to cover comdata and atm charges. Of at this time you now owe Apollo 225.00 dollars. But at the end of the job you have all you receipts fuel , tolls etc and they equal out to say 198.00 you now owe Apollo 27.00. Apollo does not pay for your food! And they tell drivers that when they start! I don't know of to many companies that do! And you do not have to accept or ask for the personal advance if you do not want it! 5.00 of the 27.00 are atm and comdata charges to use your card and yes there is a charge just as there is on any debit card. Now you had 2.00 left from the trip advance so you kept that in your pocket, but if you used that 2.00 for something for the truck and have the receipt you will get that back but say you don't have a receipt you have that 2.00 in your pocket so you do owe them for it. Ok so say you don't have a receipt for the 2.0. And they gave you a 20.00 advance plus the 5.00 for comdata and atm fees you are in the whole 27.00 because that is money they gave you to do a job you have been contracted to do. So say that trip you drove that truck 180 miles and you get paid say .23 cents a miles your pay on that job is 41.04 so you must repay. Apollo that 27.00. Your pay for that trip. 14.04. Now realize say Apollo gave you an advance of 225.00 and you have receipts for the fuel, tolls etc that equal 225.00 you wouldn't be in the hole at all... I hear drivers complain but if you manage your money they give you as an advance before the trip you will do well. Remember that money they advance you as a driver isn't your money it is still Apollos money they have gave you as an advance to get the job you as a driver had/has been contracted to do.
Please note: I am a driver for Apollo my terminal is Tempe Arizona and my name is Norm. -
