Theirs a company out of Canada I see alot and they run alot of 3 axle trucks with a 1 axle jeep or joe dog or what ever you want to call them. Their pretty cool as they also lift when they are empty or have a lighter load on. Dont really know my Canada wheel base laws but the trucks dont look super short. Just wondering if theirs a advantage to this verse a 4th lift axle and I know you could run with out it sometimes and save some weight but is their a more technical advantage maybe.

Alot of the western based Canadians run them due to the fact unless it's a tri drive the province will not give you the weight. So you can run a jo dog and then get the weight plus it's a seperate axle and allows for bridge law..
Guys from the western provinses help me here if I'm wrong.
Also lets say you want to expand your operation, you can buy one of these and use it on various trks. thus not limiting what you can do.
Me I used one once, due to frost law. Pain in the arse for me. Running 13 axles plus a jo dog... -
It's a eastern Canada company I think but I was thinking what you said about being able to use it when needed but wasn't sure if their was more to it or not. Their pretty expensive arnt they

Not sure, Never priced one..

I have seen Keen trucks a bunch of times with that setup. Usually a tandem truck with one of those hooked behind.
-
I heard that they were going to add them instead of buying more 4 trks

Mullens uses them. As far as Canadian specialized/heavy haul goes, they're the ones I see most. From Decatur,Illinois to Houston.
-
Of course California wont allow them.

Put a rainbow sticker on it...usually that's all it takes to get things approved in California.rabbiporkchop and 281ric Thank this.

They are fairly expensive I've seen good used ones that go for twenty grand or better at auction. They don't lift either of you look closely at one it should have rollers underneath it and when you don't want it on the ground you slide your fifth wheel forward and the jeep jumps up on your lowboy ramps.
DMH Thanks this.
