Ridiculus Rate!!!!

Way to cheap anyway you look at it IMO.. I do not touch ltl's for less than a $1 a mile and then only if i have more to go with it. Why should i move freight at a sub par rate just because i have room. Sounds great to grab it and build a load , but what if you take it and find nothing to go with it, now your stuck all the way to Chicago for $350.

 

Come on people use your heads you're not gonna build something A)from a broker or B) for $350 or C) for a broker!!!

 

Most of these forklift partials on the board are low. Seems the same brokers always post them (RLD). At that rate you'd need almost three of those $350 LTLs to cover your fuel. That forklift should pay enough to at least cover the fuel to get it to CHI. Heck that's probably what a roll back wrecker would charge to haul a car across town and they want you to haul it 1000 miles? Oh and don't forget all the tolls.

 

Had a good laugh this morning. Called about a ld. from the northwest side of Chicago going to Grand Forks,Nd. 13'5' wide and 13'5" high on the ground. 31' long..
So will need a stretch trl. and escorts for Il Wi Mn and maybe Nd.
I call and the broker says the customer has a top budget of 5800 all in ...

I said too cheap. He says somebody called and said 6000 they would do it for and he was waiting for the shipper to call him back to see if he would pay the extra.
He then asks me, how much would you do it for. I said 7500 maybe 7200 at the cheapest. I think I heard him choke..
Who are these guys hauling this stuff??? ...

 

i told myself i would pull out of here for anything over $1.50/mile and after 30 calls i have not yet found one load that pays that someone is moving this stuff because they dont last long

 

Bayou, I'm picking up a load in GA Wednesday evening that's delivering in Rosenberg on Friday. Let me know if you'll be around. I'll buy you a coffee and we can complain about not being able to find decent paying freight coming out.

That's why I'm coming to TX. Girlfriend's family lives in Clyde; she's going to be on the truck with me. Got a load from Houston Friday dropping in Midland Saturday, then we'll scoot over to Clyde and stay until Tuesday.

Trick is going to be finding our way back to NC next week.

 

It sure doesn't help when you have Swift and the likes getting into the mix and moving for pennies on the dollar.

 

Yep. Then had to pay phone tag with the broker on the last ld. for new rate sheet. My office and I kept trying to get him on the phone or emails asking nicely for the new sheet with the detention money.. He finally answered when I blocked my number.. Surprise..
Finally got it.
Now I'm here waiting to do a ld. from Mi. To In..
One of new agents who goofed. So now I had to get tarps for ld. when 1 1/2 weeeks ago he said no tarps.. He crapped when I told him 1500 for tarp charge.. Well it's 20 l 12 w 13 h. I don't think he will ld. me any more after this.. Oh well.
Had to get corprate involved. Boy was he pissed I did that..
