Hey drivers, I had got some information about the Citizenship and most of the recruiters I contacted said as long as I have a Birth Certificate, Passport, And SS with a valid Drivers License and a letter saying that im waiting for a ceremony date I should be good. Companies that are willing to hire me are Roehl, Millis, Central Refrigerated, Prime, Stevens, Swift, CRST. Which companies would a driver mostly recommend to a newbie?

Most money made starting off would be Mills and Prime.

My own research finds Mills and Prime the better paying outfits upfront. These are reefer outfits. Prime starts @ .41 in a lightweight. Mills starts at .36 in a middie. Both are OTR with 14 day minimums.

If you live in Florida you will have a hard time going anywhere. If you have a couple tickets, you will have trouble with the better companies. If you have a void in your employment history, you will have trouble. If you are a criminal, you will have trouble.

I have two speeding tickets - no excuse for them; a pristine employment history and a misdemeanor in the 1970's and can't get on with the better companies (so far). They say the tickets are what mess me up. They want you, but ya got to be squeaky clean.

I have only driven for one of your listed choices... Central Ref. Personally I would highly recommend them! Central is large enough to keep you busy yet small enough to still treat you like a human being! The one biggest reason I always recommend them is because when my wife and I drove for them they always, always went above and beyond to help us with whatever we needed. Whether our request was big or small they never hesitated and always treated us with utmost respect. Just in one instance Central got us a monetary settlement of over $20,000 due to constant mechanical breakdowns! In another instance they actually had their equipment manager babysit our dog for a week so that we could shuttle brand new trucks to the terminal. That is what I meant by above and beyond!

Central runs mostly reefer but I think they do have a few dry vans. Their equipment is some of the best! I would say that their pay is fairly average but they probably have the most bonuses in the industry! We used to get fuel bonuses, safety, performance, driver of the month, Xmas, etc...

Central has its own school too. This will allow you to get into the industry without forking over $6000 up front for school! Plus provided you pass your schooling you are guaranteed a job! They have terminals all over the main one being in Salt Lake, UT. The closest one to you would probably be the Conley terminal, which is in Atlanta. They pay for your transportation, lodging and also some meals and such. I think you would be very impressed with them.

Sorry to sound like a recruiter and ramble on, if you want more info on Central just shoot me a "pm". I would be glad to help...

Prime starts at a really high pay for drivers, and gets around 2500-2800 miles in a week. Thats what a Prime recruiter told me. Millis does to and I like that. I read both positive things about these companies

I have to highly recommend Central Ref from personal exp. They are a good outfit if you need school. If you have a CDL then I would say there are some place that would pay you better. It all depends on the situation you are in.
