Don't worry so much about length of haul. Those long loads happen. Personally I'll take back to back 5-6 hundred milers as long as they don't eat up to much time loading/unloading. I kind of like having money hit the bank every few days. If you can do a 500 mile load every day for 7 days in a row you have 3500 miles for the week. Some times the long loads can be a pain on one end or the other, not that short ones can't but I'll take just about anything I can get, especially now going into the slow season.

You will always find detractors for every company. But that's why those are found under "Report a Bad Company".
This section is mostly positive. However, the Aviary, thanks to Smokr, is postings of everything. Most are from current and past drivers for Stevens and we really don't pull our punches. We report it as we see it and how we experience things.
Read the Aviary for a balanced look at Stevens.

In answer to your question about haul lengths...yes, we enjoy one of the longest average haul lengths in the trucking industry. But that is common to refrigerated, since we haul food (mostly) across the country.

Oh boy, lots of answers around here, maybe start at the beginning and start reading.

*Are you on a green card? Why do you have to wait on the citizen cert?

I saw the cards in compliance. I haven't set mine up yet. Is it safe to assume that once set up we can change the sttv$ at a later date?

I would take me sometime to get through this aviary so I read some few though. They took my green card because they told me I will no longer need it. I have to go to a ceremony for the oath of allegiance to recieve my certificate. But right now im just waiting on a letter saying the date for me to go to the ceremony

I bet you could still use the A# off the green card to get started, anyways, good luck Kev. I probably need to do the citizenship thing sinse I've been on a green card for 25 years.

Yea you right or I should of made a copy of it. And Ive been here since 1994 and now I finally made the decision. At first I wanted to be a trucker around 1998 and I was already studying for the test my brother was working on his to but made it successfully but then I didnt get the chance to go. I was working then I found a second job and that what cut of my chances. If I never did get a second job right now I would of been trucking. I have several family members that are in it and talk to me about how that job works. Ive travel in them before and know somethings about them to but rarely go out with them cause I work. When I applied at Stevens they told me they would send me to a school in Georgia I forgot the name of the school. But Ive been waiting since August of this year but now I guess I'll start without it and maybe while in training or after training when someone home let me know the letter comes in then I will request to get home on that date

    What a lovely load...

Repowered with a driver that did not want to go into the PNW... we were both in Arkansas... He got the load after DLD... I was at shipper who closed their gate from midnight to 7am so repower was late... Hit the weather of course and spent 25 hrs at Sapp bros in Cheyenne waiting for I80 to reopen. While I am sitting there and before the road was open i get a new appt, maybe I can make it... I finally leave Cheyenne, get as far as Rawlins before it gets dark, I stopped because given the storm we had, I want to be able to see the road ahead of me... I wake up about 2:30 local freezing, and find an EnG code on APU... try to start the truck... dead... luckily I did invest in a good pair of jumper cables so was able to.jump.it from reefer.

Currently sitting at TK in Salt Lake City...

I came off home time today. I spent 47 minutes going 16.5 miles. I80 is very bad in eastern Iowa. I almost jack knifed getting up the off ramp at Iowa 80 truck stop. Now I'm shut down. The dot is still advising not to travel on I80 and I380, which is where I need to go for my pick up going to MA. Joy.
