Is it mounted under the bunk? I had one put into my truck a few years ago and the switch was on the wall where the bunk heater switch was. I loved mine and never had to idle the truck unless it got below 25 or so. One caution: make sure you turn it off when the truck is running or before shutting it off. That is have the truck turned off when operating the Espar as the heater can get plugged up. Every couple of weeks turn it on high and run it for and hour or so while you are inside eating to clean it out.

my truck had a box in the sleeper. flipped the switch and full blown heat. the temp switch was broke so all i could do was on and off and on.
i had no idea what the box was other then it said espar. i flipped the switch and nothing happened. then i realized that it takes time to kick on. -
It must have an on/off switch. Is there a dial anywhere that has numbers on it like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5?
-
Controller is about 2 inches by 2 inches with a round dial mounted somewhere in the sleeper, usually within reach of the driver while laying in bed. It takes a few minutes for the unit to kick on once you turn the dial on the controller on.

No dials with numbers. Its a little black box with a screen and 4 buttons. A wind looking button, up and down buttons and a button with a fan. Maybe it auto kicks in if i don't manually turn off the truck??? I miss having an apu lol

Crash you are describing it right...do i need to let the truck turn itself of? It didn't idle longer than 5 mins or do.
-
you do not have to idle the truck when using the heater, that is the point of it. You should be able to turn it on and let it run when the truck is off. Turn it off before starting the truck.

Look around here for the type you have.

But that's the problem. There is no on or off button...i understand the point is to not idle lol
