Evening everyone,
I am seeking to purchase a Volvo Air Compressor, for my 07. It's a VED 12 engine, and the Air Compressor is also Volvo with dual pistons. I have checked at Volvo and the part only is about $1300. So, before I go ahead and buy into that, I want to see if I can find it somewhere for a lesser price. Please let me know if you have an idea where in the Mid-west US I could come accross a decent compressor with a somewhat acceptable price.
Thanks a whole bunch!

I payed $1160 for the twin Volvo one in Milton, PA. The twin was $2700 for my D12D. Mine was pumping air into my coolant system and making the overflow tank dump coolant onto the ground. Was a real pain for awhile until I fingered out the problem.

Mine has not started to give me any big problems just yet, the biggest issue that I have with it is the fact that it keeps pumping air and so you can hear the Air Dryer release air every 45 sec to a minute. And that is extremly annoying!

Do you have the actual part number?
-
85000615 thats the Volvo part number and the Mack number is 20845313, hence they are both the same... either one would be good

Let me see what I can find. How would you feel about something refurbished?

did you bother to change the air governor since it is what controls the comp on/off at a set psi. i would install a new one since it only cost about $25 or less and takes about 15 mins to do. also i would check the dryer itself as sometimes the outlet where the air come from gets dirty and does not close right which will make it bleed off more then normal. the best way to clean that outlet is to just soak it with starting fluid while running the truck so when it blows you will be cleaning it out(watch your eyes so it dont blow back in them). a can of fluid is only $3 so both would cost alot less. and no down time.

I will be fine with a refurbished one as long as it can fit and it does not cost an arm and a leg. Thank you for lending us a helping hand on this one....

Yes, I have changed the Air Governor but I bought it from Fleet Pride and the psi are not set on 125 like my original one was, it is set on 110 and it did not correct the problem. But I have a friend who ended up buying three different Air Governor's and once he put the one on that he bought at Freightliner it stoped going insane and it corrected his problem. So that was what I was think of doing today is going to Freightliner and purchasing another one and changing it. Even though I have a Volvo, I have heard that it does not have to be make specific to work... So I will try to do that.

no they are not make specific, but try and clean dryer. also does your truck hold right psi?
