I'm wondering.? If your telling him on the one hand if he does not worry about his future in Trucking;why are you also suggesting to be polite? Makes no sense to me. Like a mugger saying he's sorry after he takes the wallet and is gone.

In this situation, driver holds all the aces, right ? No need to be rude, won't hurt to be polite.
bullhaulerswife Thanks this. -
And I think abandoning a truck for any reason is a bad idea. And stupid.Dinomite and Tonythetruckerdude Thank this. -
if you do not return the truck, its called abandment, then that will be posted on your DAC report, then good luck trying to find another job in trucking, most all trucking companys look at your DAC and decide on whether they will hire you or not. think about it would hire some one that wouldnt take back a $50,000 truck after you trusted him? oh well its something to think about, good luck

Your not keeping up with the drama, buddy

The OP doesn't care about DAC report, if the truck owner even reports it. He just doesn't want to be arrested for "truck abandonment".

Take the truck back. Like the one driver said. You admittedly ran hot for him all this time. Defended him and told everybody about the other driver. I think you will have to pay your own way back. But abandoning his truck is not an option. You will be back on here after a few months when you want another job claiming nobody will hire you, and they shouldn't hire you. If you are not going to do the right thing and take the truck back. Then you will end up working for another scum bag. No one in their right mind will hire you after you tell them you abandoned somebodies truck. It's not the easiest thing to get home for Christmas. So thank God that you were able to get home, and take the man his truck back. You are assuming what he is going to do. Two wrongs don't make a right, and I hope you have a job lined up before you quit. You might even can get the next company to pay for your way to their orientation from Washington.
Run legal and cover your tail. Yes companies have called the cops on drivers. I have never heard of a company that doesn't expect you to take their truck to one of their terminals or yards. I also heard of some people getting abandonment put on their records when they only took it to a drop yard and not a terminal. So Cover your butt. I don't think you ran hot all year to let your career go down the drain.Tonythetruckerdude and scottied67 Thank this. -
Good luck O.P. You have many opinions here with probably many more to follow. My advice.? Think long term and not short term circumstances. Or go with your gut when all alone late at night when the B.S. of life and the World is not shouting in your ear. Usually this will be the best advice you will receive.
At any rate- Good Luck to you- Hope you have a better New Year..58Skylane, Snowshoes, bullhaulerswife and 3 others Thank this. -
Well said Bumpy, I think that is the most logical post here. IMHO.
Bumpy Thanks this. -
I just saw that. So he made you an independent contractor? Take the load to Washington and then have the # for the IRS on your phone.

What will that accomplish?
