I run the I95 corridor, so I spend way more time in cities than mountains, but my company seems adamant that I know how to chain ,but they don't equip our trucks with them which seems strange to me.
Company says no chains?!?

Pattyj, this is what I call fun 75 miles worth of snow, ice, chains and 5,000 ft drop offs.....AKA US 550

Drove through the ice in N. Little Rock AR last night...fun times. I was thinking of this thread the whole time. There were 2 wrecks that backed me up for 2 hours, plus the traffic jam I forgot to go around in the construction zone between 193 and 216

Cleared up after we got past Conway. -
I've never even held chains in my hands,we don't have them. Being on the East Coast, they are not required.I drove in bad weather tonight with alot of cars off the road,ya just need to slow down.

I hate it when a company oversteps its place. although usually its on the side of caution.

Chains seem to be a dirty word in the east..

havent we been thru this before??? many times???
bottom line.....just because someone else is doing something, does that mean you should??? if so and so jumped off a bridge would you???? the chainers will always say chain...and they have some valid points (revenue)...the non chainers will say sit it out....ultimately...its YOUR DECISION as the driver of THAT truck....it is YOUR responsiblity and YOUR CDL...dont let someone else tell you how to drive, no matter what the circumstances....snow, wind, fog etc....YOU DECIDE....sdaniel, Gearjammin' Penguin, NavigatorWife and 3 others Thank this.
