It makes me frustrated when I hear these E-log lovers say "when they mandate them on everyone, we'll separate the men from the boys"

I beg to differ, there's some of us out here running mileage in the 4 digits in a single day, some guys load steel in chicago and make stops in New england the next day, some cattle haulers do 1000 mile round trips, the list goes on...

Do you people really think some of us who run 4000+ a week miles, while doing stops, and sitting around just like you @ shippers/receivers really are incapable of working a 14 hour day and still getting the job done?!

What it all comes down to in the end is $$$, the all mighty dollar bill, E-logs will directly affect my pocket, no doubt about it!

Not only the fact it will hurt alot of drivers in the pocket book but they are not needed. There is absolutly no reason for them to be mandated other than the fact no one says otherwise. So they feel they can get away with mandating them without any recourse. With all the regulations they keep shoving down our throats our pay should double. Trucking is one of the most regulated industry's and we deserve higher wages. Plain and simple. Pipe fitters make $30/hour and we make peanuts. Wal-mart managers make the same as most company drivers yet without the drivers the Wal-mart managers would be without a job. Hows that make any sense?

Ahh, but you can legally finish the run. You should read up on the split sleeper berth provision, it addresses this exact situation.

Still wouldn't be able to finish the run as there would be no time to unload being his 14 hour clock is now up to the minute. I get what your trying to say by use the split spleeper though. Only thing with the split is alot of company don't allow it to be used as they don't want the headache of teaching the driver nor the safety guy how to legally do it.

I stop every two hours. I've done that and have still been able to get my 11 hours in while stopping for lunch too. Ain't no reason to drive 11 hours straight, you're just hurting yourself

I love when misinformed drivers use the terms "most companies or " most drivers" to use in their argument and implying that they have all this first hand experience .

You have experience with all these companies right?

You have yet to provide any real proof of anything you've said. It's all jibber jabber driver...

if there's no toll's why not? someone paid on a mileage rate, that would run like that would beat someone whose taking their 10 off, sleep for 6 or 7 hours and hit the road again, aslong as they are matching their tolls and fuels they would be getting more miles compared to the other guy...

Seems like more to gamble than I'd want to put out there. Don't get me wrong, I'd probably do the same thing if I were a driver, but there are way more things that I'd rather do than be a driver. If I wanted to be away from my family I could be in OSHA inspector, company car, expense account, nice pay, better bonuses, great benefits. But I don't, so I didn't.
