Applied Christmas Eve and got the call today... Accepted and aiming for Feb 4thGot to get my permit and transfer my drivers license because I just moved from Cali to Clarksville TN. Hope this all works out... From all the information this great forum provided, I really think this is the only CDL training company for me. Any insight, advice or conversation is more then welcome. Really curious about so much ... Do you guys get a lot of runs through Tennessee? I pretty sure I'll be heading to the GA facility...
Just got accepted!

Thank you JM ... This forum alone is the only reason I applied... I really am looking forward to getting to know all of you... The journals of people's experiences through training are so helpful when getting into the industry on the right foot...I hope to provide my experience with millis to help anyone that decides to join after me. Time to start studying for that permit!
ATX Thanks this. -
Congrats to you Powderblue....I'm changing careers at 53 and found this and two other sites very helpful in deciding which company to go with.I'm also starting training 1/14/13 up in Richfield. I already have my permit & DOT physical sent in.I studied the CDL practice tests on this site until I was getting 100% every time I took it... in GK,Comb & Air Brakes. I'm going back to get the X,Triples & tanker next week. I also used this site as well.. http://www.cristcdl.com/ It helped a lot. Best of luck to you and keep in touch !PowderBlue Thanks this.

Jack thanks for the info... Gonna get into it this weekend... Never even sat in a rig but I'm normally a fast learner... Families depending on me so I can't fail. I really liked he idea of a small class size and Ill follow ur progress. Best of luck!
Truc ... Thank you... Im not confident that OTR is the job for me but Millis seems like a good place to get a couple years exp. but who knows.. I might love the time away from home. I hated every minute of my last job and still survived 10 yrs... So I'm pretty confident I can make it through this. I just liked that every Millis thread I read... People seemed to get their home time. I don't mind limited days off or being out for weeks...as long as I can get home to my little ones when I do get hometime.Last edited: Dec 29, 2012

I personally would never have gotten into trucking if i had kids. Just having a wife that loves me and misses me a bunch makes it suck a bunch to be away from her. And i am only gone for a week. That is the only bit of advice i would give anyone getting into this business. Great for loner types. not so great for families.

Well after having to leave a 10 year 85k+ a year career and relocating my family of 4 into my inlaws basement I need to get into something. Driving has never bothered me and I normally enjoy it. I pretty sure I can cope with the loneliness if its a means to an end. 1-2 year sacrifice so I can get the experience needed to drive local. This is a way for me to get us back on our feet and atleast with Millis it seems getting home for your hometime isnt much of a problem. At the old job I worked 6 days a week .. left at 6pm and didnt come home till Noon most days.. never seen the kids at all... I have phones.. skype ... email ect. If I could deal with deployments I can deal with 21 days out at a time. Im not gonna enjoy it .. but where else can you walk in with no education and be in a career within a few months. Honestly I just sold my home and everything I own to move out here... so I pretty much feel homeless as it is. I have a strong wife.. and she is very much aware that she will have to be strong through this .... Luckily she works in Real Estate and her schedule is very flexible. She loves raising the kids and soon my son will be old enough to ride with me on occasion. I completely know what your saying Samurai .. but I got to make this work... -
well more power to ya man. i am just giving my opinion. I also had a good paying job and got canned so since all i ever saw was driving jobs i called millis. Its an easy job but very very boring.
