gym places to work out

    Yes! Exactly.

    All great ideas and very true. Always switch up your routine and trick your body so it constantly has to adapt and grow. Use your body weight for resistance. Get your heart rate up and maintain for a while. Add a decent diet and some honest sleep and you're golden.

    I hadn't thought of the tennis racket idea but I like it. And it would be awesome to get in a little game of catch in a truckstop somewhere.

    I used planet fitness otr but I also have my bicycle with me and other workout equipment like resistance bands jump rope in truck also most gyms has a day pass and with my bicycle it's easy to get to the gym instead of trying to park my truck close

    Get one or two kettlebells and a copy of any of Pavels books. Google it. With a KB and a little time you could turn your life around.

    I'm a gym goer myself. Been one of my favorite spare-time activities since my high school football days. Here's the deal though...you probably ain't gonna have the time or inclination for that while you're out on the road. I'm lucky enough to have a job that gets me back home regularly. Not every day but several times a week. When I'm out working I just don't worry about it...try to watch what/how much I eat is about all I do. When I'm home I get to the gym 2-3 times a week still and make it count. At least one day dedicated to legs and one for upper body.

    If you're stuck with an OTR starter job that puts you out on the road for weeks at a time you might just have to put your fitness goals on the shelf for awhile and make your new career your priority. I had to for awhile. Eventually you'll find a job that allows a little better opportunity to work it back into the schedule.

    While its true that the nature of OTR work makes actually attending a gym near impossible, one can at the very least take very easy steps to maintain their overall fitness level to a managable level for when they do start hitting the gym again.

    Obviously pushups and situps can be done anywhere, pull ups too if you get creative enough. What i did for cardio is brought a longboard with me and whenever i was stuck somewhere and i knew id be there for awhile, instead of sitting in the drivers seat, getting fat and watching other drivers get fat too id yelp the restaurants nearby and 9 times out of 10 there would be something much healthier than what the truck stops provide. I never worried how far away it was as long as it was under 5 miles which gave me some wiggle room to find a decent, affordable spot.

    So im killing two birds with one stone getting some good cardio in, eating much healthier food than what 90% of truckers are eating. It also had the added bonuses of truly letting me see much of the country on the "ground level" and alleviated the depression i experienced from being a prisoner to the truck.

    I used a long board just because ive been a skater since i learned how to walk and its what i know and enjoy but id recommend to new drivers to just invest in a fold up bike.
