When the cab rust out it us time to do a cab swap
CARB is in lala land. They want trucks to be replaced like cars. They do not look at what is on the road, yes there are some old trucks that should be junked but there are many more out there that are in great shape and regularly pass inspections.Working Class Patriot Thanks this. -
One of my old contractors still has trucks from the 60's......They maintain them and they have always passed their BIT Inspections....Too bad that in one year from tomorrow....Those trucks will be illegal to use in Cali.....
Of course as we all know.....PACCAR is giving away trucks for "free"....

I meant produce trucks - for all the rest including vans and flatbeds: I agree, the big fleets are there to replace small guys. Agree with all the rest of your post too, its all about killing the little guy. It is happening because general public (means vast majority of people) got dumbened to the point they don't know or care whats going on and since the strong guys like your uncle are few and far between nobody really understands them anymore - why work so hard and raise so many kids when you can be single an work for Crete?

Ramblin Man ,you are acting like nobody was warned in advance that CARB was happening.
CARb isn't about killing the little guy.
The little guy knew a long time ago this was going to happen.
There are little guys who planned ahead and who are now CARB compliant.
Those who retired,it was their choice.
They could have invested in new equipement.
They CHOOSE not to do so for whatever reason.
As a little guy you are as much a bussinessman as a big fleet owner.
Thus you are also reponsible for your decisions.
If your decision was to ignore CARB,then you must accept the consequences off that.
CARB is a set off rules.
Rules have and will allways change in trucking.
The CHOICE off how YOU deal with those changes is YOURS.
Plain and simple.
ps the little guy has some exceptions in CARB which the big fleets don't have.

hahaha it would be hard to retrofit a cat d12, considering there is no such machine.

I've seen firsthand where an owner operator switched the wires on the EOBD connector....Net result was that every laptop/diagnostic programmer~ reader that was plugged into the vehicle got fried immediately as + 24 volts was sent up through the K comunication lines. His motive was to prevent authorities checking the engine's ECU for data, as his suspected crime was driving when he was recording sleeping. It worked for him...everytime...Authorities were left with fried expensive equipment..Main dealers that he was dragged into were left with fried equipment....And there is no crime if 'someone' miswired your vehicle at some stage.
I have also seen toggle switches relays intsalled which can switch the wiring of the EODB port at the flick of a switch. The main motive is to prevent a vehicle being stolen...Apparently some modern vehicles can be started via the EOBD port? I have also seen dummy EOBD ports installed and the correct one moved to a more discreet location.DrtyDiesel and joey83854 Thank this.
