Have a customer that owes ALOT of money to us. We have paid the trucks already. It is way over the limit for small claims, can never get anyone on the phone to get any answers. Anyone have experience dealing with customers like this? We checked references before dealing with them and all said they have always paid on time. They paid a very small portion of their invoices at 30 days and that was it, now they are at 60. Any ideas?

OOIDA has a collection company that you only pay if they collect.

I'm from FL and I hauled a load for a broker out of ID. When it went 45 days and I was still getting excuses, I booked a load to ID and showed up at the office. I left there with my money! I didn't need threats or anything, simply showing up was enough intimidation. Maybe you should try that first, and counter any argument with if you leave without a check, it will be placed with a collections company in less than an hour.
I knew some good old boys that would show up with bats, or park a rig nose first at the entry door blocking it from opening, but it's a brave new world these days and those tactics are more likely to cost you more money than the unpaid bill.

Call the shipper and consignee. That always gets money moving broker don't want their customers to know they don't pay.

I have a very strong case against Allen Lund and the BOLs , lumpers receipt, emails, there listings for the load on DAT network and all other verbal or documented communications in hand. I have gone to the BOND TIA c/o David Carney, no results. I have gone to BBB they pretty much told me to F##ck off. I have sent OOIDA the whole case with no results at all, an old lady recorded message who could barely talk that she will handle the case and nothing ever happened. OODIA also claims that their insurance is 20% less than the others but they also quoted me exact same price as all others which was $8300 for a college graduate, Clean record and OK credit. 60k miles/year ifta was provided to all of them. The insurance company I ended up, was Carolina Casualty (I hate dealing with them hard to do spot market business, because I can't be sure that if they will send the Certificate of Insurance in time or not.) Any way Like I said the only way to survive in this lawless industry is by sticking together and walking to the terrors face and requesting the funds nicely.
