Ditto on the small chick....I've been driving for over 20 years, here in the US and in Europe. I drove all kinds of equipment - dump truck, moving truck, reefer, flatbed, dry van, garbage truck, hazmat.....I'm only 5'6" and between 100 and 105 lbs - so, there's not much of me, but....I think I have helped more bigger and "stronger" drivers with their tandems, landing gears, getting something fixed to get to the repair station, than the other way around. There's almost nothing we women can't do (and don't give me that ...we men can pee while standing. I will prove you different!). I'm also a "freelance" auto mechanic and most of my customers are men. I think many companies have a false idea of what a woman can and cannot do. Try to rape my butt, and you will get yourself in a fight with a lioness who also has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and Karate - believe me, I WILL WIN the fight in less than 1 minute! Makes me wanna head out to those oil field knuckleheads. All those freaks need to get off their weird, middle age thinking. We are not in the 16th century anymore.

As a female that has been driving for 10 years, they really are being better to you than you will ever know. In the 70's I was one of the first women in trucking. That is when you showered in the mens rest rooms behind a locked door. And every truck had a man in it. You are very NEW to the industry. What you are wanting to do is not SAFE. Years ago, I got picked up and thown into a side door on a sleeper, raped, beaten, and tied up with my clothes, and then thrown out about 60 miles away from a truck stop. No one cared, because I was a women, where I should not be.... The job requirement for this kind of driving is lots harder then just delivering regular freight. On oil jobs, even the hours are longer, and the regulations are different. There are lots of companies that love having women. If you want good pay, go to the companies that haul military freight. They pay wonderful. And explosives are not that bad, and you never handle anything.

i hate it when companies give you the runaround. they make you think that you have a chance and you wait expecting the best, but just another waste of time -

CI feel bad for the OP but actually one of the companies that was metioned actually gave me a shot right out of a 3 wk CDL school in 2010 so I feel blessed because even though I workk for a differant company now believe all the companies up here have their good/bad as to the whole rape issue while it's surely possable I don't think it's fair to make ND out to be the land of worlves...there are bad guy/girls in every state...I don't frequent bars because it's not my life style so I can't offer an opinion on that but for every ill mannered male I have met/come across I have met over 100'sthe of hard working faithful mother would be proud men...have I had to deal with a bit of stupidness here ...you bet...is it worth my time to debate about...NOPE....I help as well as.been helped and will continue to do so...Do I blame companies for. worring...Nope...I'm not manly nor am I frail and u bet on my days off I like looking like a female because 6 days a week min 14hrs a day I'm oily-

Ok, I know this thread is old but I have to comment. Call me whatever you want but the truth is that women are NOT equal to men in certain areas, and the reverse is true ad well. A woman's worth as a human being is equal to - and in some cases superior - to a man's, but physically it is not the case. I've worked in the oilfield for going on two years and although there may be rare exceptions, a woman can't do the work. He'll, some men can't. Working in the oilfield requires much more than just driving. (Pulling 4" hoses, especially in the Winter when they're frozen is indeed "mans" work). Also, drilling and production companies would have a stroke if a woman showed up on their location as a driver. Dispatches ears would be on fire after the company man got through blasting them. Let's get real people. I know it's politically correct to pretend women are equal in all areas to men, but the truth is that simply isn't correct.

Yeah, I don't get it. I've worked with women in the oil fields. They are some of the neatest people you'll meet. Give the shirt off their backs, plus they can actually carry an interesting conversation. What I have found is that they are good workers.....the one's who aren't don't last long. They are tough too....they have to be with all the sexual slurs thrown at them. I was friends with a girl out in Greeley for awhile....I couldn't believe how many slurs were thrown at her. Poor girl....and she didn't let it deter her. If that was me my fists would've come up and there would have been some fist fights right there on the oil pads.
