They recruited at a school i went to in indiana. You need four months exp otr. I work for crst now and talked to a driver trucks are automatic. He said he gets home most weekend, they seem good. Not as nany problems as crst.

It's a large regional carrier. It's privately owned, no debt, and with good benefits. I won't say pay is good or bad because no matter what you call it some knucklehead will say they would not leave a burning building for twice that amount. Pay is based on your division and/or your dedicated account. They try to work strictly legal. There is no playing around with paychecks. But it's only a good place to work if you and they fit. If you work OTR you'll almost always be home weekends, because they don't have much freight going more than 500-700 miles. They don't go out west much except with dedicated freight. From what I hear from OTR drivers you empty out very early in the day, sit around all day long and then get dispatched like their hair is on fire. You better sleep during the day.

Majority of company is OTR, but they have a ton of dedicated accounts, and they have some linehaul/shuttle, or terminal-to-terminal. Do not apply if you are a cowboy. Do not apply if you think they'll give you a truck and leave you alone. You better like playing by the rules. Do not apply if you think they will change to make you happy. You'll be a cog in their machine or you will leave.

OTR mileage is very dependent on which "service center" or terminal you operate from. At one large SC near me the drivers are lucky to get 1500 miles, while at a very small SC elsewhere they have more miles than drivers to take them. It's important to talk to drivers at the terminal you might expect to be based. They have a ton of dedicated freight.

lets make this real simple about averitt. AVERITT IS A 50K A YEAR JOB PERIOD. UNLESS YOU ARE IN THE LTL DIVISION. WHICH YOU WANT BE UNLESS YOU WORK THERE ALL YOUR LIFE. ENOUGH OF THE AVERITT BS. AVERITT IS A TIPICAL TRUCKING COMPANY WITH A FEW BETTER BENEFITS. THIS IS WHY THEY HAVE ORIENTATION EVERY SINGLE WEEK. NOW PEOPLE IF IT WAS SUCH A GREAT COMPANY DO YOU REALLY THINK THEY WOULD HAVE ORIENTATION EVERY WEEK. I MEAN REALLY. PLEASE GET A LIFE.. GO TO A COMPANY THAT DONT HAVE ORIENTATION EVERY WEEK. YOU WILL REALIZE THAT WOULD BE THE COMPANY TO WORK FOR..

All companies have orientation every week and companies like mine have it 2 to 3 times a week.Depending on the driver.Like today they're having orientation for 3 drivers because we had some bad weather last week and had to cancell orientation.Just because companies have orientation once a week does not make them a bad company.

    FFE Driver Thanks this.

Drive. A company worth a flip dont have orientation every week. The compnay i went to after i quit averitt don't even have orientation period. You drivers need to get away from these cracker jack truckload companies that do nothing but rotate drivers from company to company. Get a real job. Get into ltl
