This company looked like they had their act together and I have known about them for a long time. When I considered going there last week all seemed to be going well. With 4 years verifiable experience and three months required recent experience (needed for hire) they told me everything looked good to come in the following week, however the whole week went by with not one return phone call after I left 3 messages. I have more than enough experience and a clean record in every way. Well, finally I did get someone on the phone after 8 days and they said safety declined my application. Asking why, they said we don't know. What kind of answer is that? Yet they advertize day in and day out for drivers with at least 3 months eperience. They may look good on paper, but if this is an indication of how they operate I would advize against going there. After reading further posts about their freight and truck wash policy I am actually glad I did not go there. Any company that hauls FedEx freight is going to be a waiting game for drivers, then run your *** off all night to get the load there-been there-done that. They seem like just another run-of-the-mill cheesy company.

Obviously they saw something in you that they didn't like. How does that make them a bad company ? If it were me, I'd knock off the sour grapes, suck it up and move on.
Blanche, Ghost_Rider220, baberry64 and 5 others Thank this. -

Just left there after 8 months. Started on paper logs ... 70 % of loads in the first 2 months needed "modification" of logs to make the run. Changed to elogs ... planners do not know how to use elog info. Lots of Fedex overnight so tight that you can't stop to use the bathroom unless they schedule a fuel stop. Safety will "update" your elogs for you if you "need more hours" to make a particular trip without telling you (log violation you can't control ?). They will force you on a run even though you refuse it for valid reasons. i.e. not enough hours, been up all day on a previous unload. If you run out of hours and are "close enough", dispatch says to "run it on in" and they will note on your profile so you don't get in trouble, lol. Nevermind that a log violation is a federal issue, and what the company thinks or says makes no difference. If it "works on paper" to the planners, it gets forced on you no matter what you say or do. In 8 months I had 2 weeks of 3000 plus miles, and 2 weeks of 2800 or better. Every other week was 2500 or less. Fine for some maybe, but I want/ need 2800 minimum, every week.
Not a bad company persay, just not a good fit for me. If they get on the ball in the planning dept. it may get better, but as told to me by a driver manager ... They don't consider the "human aspect" in the trucks. Lots of expectations to sleep at the shipper or cons. to make appointment times without concern for the driver having access to bathrooms, showers, etc. Load/unload while off duty, typical lack of consideration for the very folks that keep the company in business.Last edited: Jan 5, 2013

They have a safety department? The drivers don't seem to care about it.

skellr: That too I'm afraid. Had several drivers simply say. I'll take my chances and let someone else deal with it. Specifically trailers with non working lights, brakes, etc. That's a driver thing though. Nothing bad towards the company. They will make it right if you want to wait.
skellr Thanks this. -
Sounds like truckin' to me.... -
... maybe so. Not "professional" in any case.

Every FedEx load I have pulled has plenty of time built in it. UPS...all those loads are so dang tight it's crazy.
Csnemrod Thanks this.
