Well ,I think they Do want us " Old Farts" , cause we tend to think a little first , and then react. As for me , I hate changing companies . Will, if it gets to be a hassle , but I don't like it . As long as he is in decent health , and has a low CSA , and good driving record , I think he will be just fine !
In fact , I Can recall at least one company , that liked hiring those over , um ,30 , I think it was, for those reasons.
As for reference , I don't work for , and haven't leased to , Liquid yet , so I would not be a reference he could use.
But I wish him Good Luck ! -
Well, that sure is a relief -- what good news!!! B will turn 57 in March.
-
I would think companies would prefer drivers like you guys -- common sense tells me that many years XP, thoughtfulness and patience, with good driving records combine to equal a really great employee.
B hates changing jobs, too -- he's been with the same outfit now for the past 15 years -- this time around. Worked about 10 years on-and-off for them prior to that. Poor man hasn't had a raise for 7 years.
Hmmmmm, I don't know what his CSA is -- I doubt if he does, either. He went down to DMV last week and got a Certified Copy of his driving record for prospective employers, however.
* Health is fine -- I have NEVER known him to take a day off because he was ill.
* He's got two tickets -- Failure to obey stop sign & Failure to stay in proper lane (2011)
* 2 MCSAPs (2010) -- (gonna show my iggerance here) I'm guessing those are equipment violations(?) -- we can blame DWT for those.
* NO speeding -- EVER
* NO chargeable accidents -- EVER
* NO DUI -- EVER
Methinks Old Farts like him would be considered to be worth nearly their weight in gold. -
Failure to stay in the proper lane most likely will not be a problem but the Failure to obey a stop sign might.

Stop sign: did he do a "California Stop " ? Just ease thru ? Was it an Officier , or camera ?
Camera carries less weight , as far as companies go. Plus , it's over a year ago.
MCSAP : equipment ? They are on his CSA as points , his safety man can tell him his score . The points stay with him , on a sliding scale , for 3 years ,but Don't carry over to a new employer . If his employer had a problem with his current score, he'd have heard about it by now.
A new employer will look back 5 years , so if all he has are those 2 tickets , they are over a year old now ,and if no new ones , well , I wouldn't think a safety dept. at another company would care much , but they'll probably want an explanation . He should try to remember what happened , and tell it concisely . 2 in one year could be a little damaging , unless he got both at the same time.
Never admit anything to an officer , he'll have it on tape.
Spend $500.00 on an attorney , fight every ticket. Even if its a $50.00 ticket. Many times ,an attorney can get it changed to a non-moving violation , if not get it dismissed outright. He'll probably have to pay the fine , and costs , but hey, most DAs aren't out to ruin a guys life , or record , they just want : 1. A conviction , for Something ! Looks good on their record. And ,
2. The Money . Especially the money.
Good Luck !Buzzard2157 Thanks this. -
Hey, pawpaw -- sorry for the delayed response. Been pretty tied up with the holidays and all the trappings for a few days, but things are starting to settle down.
Yeah, that was an ease-thru stop, with an officer. I'm thinking/hoping the violations are not going to hurt him a whole lot and that his "good" score outweighs anything negative.
And thanks again for your help -- you, Sir, are a wise man. -
LOL !! So , how come I'm still a poor man ?!
GoodLuck ! -
I would go with Superior or Carry transit there sister company.Good Safe Company,Work out of The Mass. terminal.And by being upfront with the terminal manager with his obligations they will try to work with him.No promises but they do there best.
