Have a friend that drove for Crete. He and his wife teamed and took their daughter along for three years. Once she became high school age they came off the road so she could attend a traditional school. He said it was a great experience for them. The wife and I talked and it sounds like the perfect thing for us. Then when she is ready either her and the daughter can come off the truck or if I can find a local job at that time we can all come off the truck. Just do not want to leave our family pet behind. He is a much beloved member of the family.

 

Of course she thinks it's fun and exciting. She's 8 years old and mom and dad are running out on her.

 

Kinda selfish if you ask me. Might as well install a stripper pole on the cat walk.

 

For recess and gym class.

 

We are not running out on her. She was very much a part of this decision. She wants to be home schooled either way. Whether we go over the road or not. Would not do this to run out on her. If she did not want to go on the road we had already decided we would not give this a try.

 

That. And future employment. Parents aren't really setting a very good example.

 

All I can tell you is that a truck and truck stops aren't the enviornment to raise a kid. Kids need to be able to play with friends and do things outside. Playing in a truckstop parking lot or a rest area are not suitable choices. What are you going to do with this kid when a security guard doesn't allow her on the property? Leave her on the side of the street or with the security guard?

 

Of course she's all for it. Kids aren't really that smart. After the first week of having to pee in a bottle in a confined area she might reconsider. Then what?

 

Personally I see no harm in taking a child on the road for a few weeks at a time, but I am not condoning doing it full time and home schooling on the truck. But yes, I think the travel experience would be good for a child.

 

Thanks for the insight you all have given, as I do not share your opinion on all of the comments, you are entitled to your opinion. I was mainly looking for pet rider policy as I have seen they do have a rider policy I just was not sure of limitations as have not come across those. Again thank you for your time and opinions.
