Some states will write you a parking ticket. Most states, if you are parked there and you are hit, you'll share part of the blame for the wreck. Many companies also prohibit that practice for the liability reasons. If you ARE going to stop on a ramp, though, always cross the road to the entrance ramp...NOT the exit ramp. Generally speaking, a car that just made the turn to get on the interstate is going to be traveling slower AND have a driver that is more likely to be awake and paying attention when compared to the exit ramp, where drivers are still traveling at highway speed and may just be "following the tail lights" not realizing you aren't moving.Wiseguywireless, highspeed1972, NavigatorWife and 1 other person Thank this.

I use to prefer rest areas until twice in a month I was woken up to do a inspection. I should have learned after the first one. Now I will mostly do truck stops or Lowe's/ Walmart.

I like to look more for areas where it looks like I am delivering my load.
Preferably someplace with a rest room around or else way out in the country -
we have people here who say that doesnt happen
i dont even want to find out -
I like parking at a chicken plant. Everything smells worse than I do and they're usually open 24/7 in case I feel like running inside to use the vending machines or rest room. Extra bonus, I don't have to park next to any vans or flats that keep me up all night with their quiet.
NavigatorWife Thanks this. -

I'll pop into casinos when I have extra time, if money allows I might throw a $20 at a machine. I also like parking at some of the produce coolers One cooler has a cafe inside, no better or worse than truck stop fare. Taco/burrito trucks are always coming through them as well and again no better no worse than truck stops.

Rest areas are too close to the road and tires are too noisy going that fast so close.
