I've got a webasto AT2000 bunk heater. It has it's own output vent. I don't like it, and want to plumb that output tube into the factory bunk HVAC conduits. Should be simple: just buy a flange and tap it into the plastic cowling, yes? Anyone ever do this and can lend some tips?
Thanks.

Been thinking of doing that with my Espar (tri-pac).
I hear what you want to do, but since it's also used for cooling, you may want to put in some kind of duct switch. You decide if you are going to use the AC or the bunk heater. The other one is closed off to prevent a back flow into it.VisionLogistics Thanks this. -
Precisely. Sure would be a lot more comfortable. Do we know for sure the heater will allow back flow? I've never tried blowing in the tube. If the loss is minimal, and any air lost would still be dumped into the bunk storage, it might be worth it to just go with a cheap flange, some self tapping screws, and a clamp.

I would look for the same size of pipe but in a flex pipe 3"?? or what ever your plastic pipe is in your truck. Even the insulated one(home box store)and then a White pvc tee for it you might have to put a 2 " piece of round pipe on the ends to get the pipes to mate .Then tee it in,to the main line coming out of the truck HVAC box. And put a dampener inline maybe use like a 3" pvc shut off valve for water, it would be your positive air flow shut off so it is not back feeding in to your truck hvac box..I have no clue what kind CFM of air those move i think i seen them with only one vent so my guess is not a lot of air movement, but hopefully enough to pipe it all thru your truck hvac venting. i would not transition it in like you were saying ,it would look cobbled and work like hell (sorry). I am a HVAC guy in business for 11 years. started driving first then hvac and now going back to driving so i know my HVAC and I know a fair amount about trucks and can fixing a lot of stuff so if you cant get it done pm me an i can help if you can send pics. If you get to the mpls st-paul area a lot i can even help you. Oh and get some foil tape, to tape your joint up so they do not leak. good stuff. it wont even melt on furnace exhust. and one costumer of mine who was a mechanic at the airport, Northwest at the time, called it 100 mph tape , i guess they use it on air plane lol oh buddyVisionLogistics Thanks this.

I love foil tape! Best tape ever.
Good idea about the shutoff valve for the summer months. Thanks for the generous offer. I'm pretty sure I can swing this. Most of the work will be finding the parts. Install should be a snap. I will enjoy the hot air on my feet in the bunk instead of burning my bare leg on the metal bunk frame where it gets super hot now. It's like touching your leg to the motorcycle exhaust.

Danhard.com has many supplies for aftermarket hvac projects. They've been around since before I started trucking.

This things can pump out some heat. I think the stock stuff would melt.

I have to agree I think it will melt the oem duct workVisionLogistics Thanks this. -
has anyone stuck a pocket thermometer in the vent and see what the temp is? then i would replace what i can get at ,with insulated flex, and then once it is distributed, the heat should cool down so it wont melt nada, OP send before an after PICS plzVisionLogistics Thanks this.
