THANK YOU AIR DROP, yours was the first serious answer i recived regarding Werner.i read a funny story about Werner trainer. well i pray that is just a story.if not i hope that trainer has retired by now.yes according to my recruter now it is 275 hours of training or 6 weeks of training.while you are in training do they still let you go home or it is 7 days work? do you do actual work transporting goods or it is driving?what if you get a trainer who is not teaching you and is on the cell phone or sleeping, can you ask for somone else, or you are out of luck? do they have computer simulator training?also what do you think about Averitt and Schenider ? for student driver.thank you for your time.
-
You might consider Stevens Transport. I never worked for them but know a few guys that started with them. Seems like they do a pretty good job training and have decent equipment. All I know about Werner is second hand. I did run into a "training team" one day at Freightliner. The "trainer" had almost a year total driving experience. Not sure if this is typical but thats what those guys told me so take it for what it's worth.
truck313 Thanks this. -
thank you so much, for the information.what about Averrit and Schneider are they student driver freindly as far as training? thank you for your time.
-
313 you may get that type of driver who is on the phone or sleeping. It just dependson the trainer. I think you had to do somewhere around 40 hours with the trainer on line four in the passenger seat and plus your first two weeks you'll have a night driving curfew. You can only drive till midnight Omaha time. Depending on your trainer you maybe out the entire time but of he goes home you'll go to his home area. They used to let you get off the truck halfway so you could go home for seven days and get a new trainer. This is great if you don't like your trainer. Keep in touch with your Student driver manager(sdm). During the training it's actual hauling goods. Not sure if they still do it but once your past curfew they may have you running as team.
truck313 Thanks this. -
thank you for your good information. You mentioned 40 hours on line, is that computer simulator training? need more practicing down shifting. thanks again.
-
Sorry that's 40 on line four. As for the simulators I do not know. I went they the Allentown terminal and at that time we had no simulators.
truck313 Thanks this. -

Hey, I'm a trainer for Werner, although I do not work for Werner. The training is what you make it. I've heard some real horror stories but never experanced them in my truck. Werner is a good starter company, but you might want to switch to an owner operator like Eagle Red hog, after you get your $500 training bonus.

They don't pay their drivers just ask them ex Werner drivers that files a civil suit.
