I started with swift in September 2012. Just got my cdl and all endorsements. Did 6 weeks with what they a mentor. Its started off good. First week was great. We got along and he actually was showing me the ropes. Hes a owner op. We went home in 2 weeks. Not bad not bad. When we headed out again. That's when it got bad. He brought hes little 12 year old brat of a son. At first it was ok. But when it got time for him to help me with whatever questions I had his son would be in the way and my so called mentor would not do anything about it. It got so bad. To the point I wanted to put this little brat over my lap and spank him! Luckaly it was only for a week. Next time out was the worst yet! He brought his newly we'd young wife! Now can you imagine being in truck with newly weds!? Not cool! They where having sex in the bunk where I slept while I was driving! This chick was so annoying! ! I wanted to slap the crap out of her! Waking me up when it was my turn to sleep! They both didnt care if I slept or not! That this situation was not cool and she needed to get off the truck so I can train! He said dont worry itll only be a week. It was for 25 days!! Finally we dropped off the stupid ##### and I had I believe a couple weeks or so of training. The last part of training was ok. But it was the worst situation ive ever been in. I was sorta stuck between a rock and a hard place. If I decided to tell swift and get another mentor. He would most likely be fired and I ask myself what if I got someone else that was worse. This story is just the beginning of the wasted life I had with swift. It gets worse.....

How is this swifts fault? If your not going to tell them, how can they correct the situation?

I had 2 trainers at May, 1st one liked to pound a few on our 10. He was hung over every day and was a miserable p!$%#. On the 9th day I'd had enough, so I called Cindy at Brooks. I told the trainer that I wouldn't say anything about the Booze as long as I got a new trainer.
He called Cindy before I did too cover his ###. (I was his 1st trainee). Cindy pretty much read me the riot act. But I got a new trainer who was great. This is supplemental income for me, so I didn't care when I called to demand a new trainer. I thought I'd get canned. I can see if a guy's really counting on getting the job driving being worried about complaining about a trainer. Who's the company gonna believe, him or the trainer ?
(I should point out I got nothing against a guy having a few. It's pretty much my hobby when I'm home. But not on the road. Also must of been more than a few to give him a hangover)

well you completed your 6 weeks and considering what you put up with you did well....don't worry about who or what you need to tell because the mentor will hang himself eventually....so just be happy it's over and go on about your business....good luck....

At the time when I was training I was afraid of losing my job. This mentor had 10 year's experience and had a great relationship with his dm. I didn't want ot to back fire on me if I said something about what was going on. Would he believe me or the mentor. Im sure the mentor would deny it and ill look stupid... this was just the beginning of my sort awful career with swift. ..

If stuff like this ticks you off that easily and you don't do anything about it, you might as well do yourself a favor and leave the industry as it isn't going to get any better.

Come on drivers! The OP's training experience was a bit unusual to say the least. I think putting up with all the wacky crap the swifty dementor dished out shows he will be well prepared for a career in truck driving. Especially if he delivers to walmart DC's.
