In threads we talk about being professional and not burning bridges.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is an example of a driver conducting a scorched earth policy for any and every perceived offense. Hmmm, do you think a broker or two won't deal with him?

Here is why it is not possible to go and find a direct shipper just like that, because if I had left the phone or the board (email , txt, phone, computer) for even one hour, you could have easily said that you were out there in search for loads in the field not in the most trusted DAT /ITS (the industry trusts these boards as a slandered) How is it possible that the speed at the postings were running (15.5 loads/ minute) and the total postings were over 4000 in the 200 mile radius and load to truck ratio was at 4.5 loads/truck and then all the loads were answered covered and the calls received with offers were close to $1/ mile on the TOLL Roads. Atlanta during good season is a good example of the last week's market in the Northeast. Let me ask general public (unbiased actual truckers ) If there are 4.5 loads and there is only one truck available, would the broker be really ignorant and arrogant to you, if you asked a $1.8/mile price out of this hot market and going to a not so hot market? or they all know that they can make me take the cheap load like Allen Lund did last year and did not even pay the fuel advance and played their stupid games. I think Kenny Lund should be ashamed of his comment (at truck show youtube video) that they are growing due to helping out carriers by advancing them cash up front, or growing because they are keeping all the funds to themselves. (Because capitalist society support the stronger party no matter who is fault.)
Let me ask the guy said some thing burning the bridges, would you do like to work with a broker who has beaten you out of Fuel Advance as promised and rest of the funds even if you have picked up the load at you cost and still did put up with the BS the shipper and the receiver (C&S wholesale) gave you, 5 hours loading and 7 hours unloading respectively ??????

It's called attitude. You can spot attitude a mile away. He openly admits to accepting cheaper loads from the usual suspects who exploit cheap carriers like there's no tomorrow - never gonna get a rate out of those guys like that. Complains about having an eastern european accent in another thread and claims that's why all the lowball offers. Does Marek complain about that? I mean I'm sure he gets lowball offers, who doesn't???, but come on man "atruckeer" you have to look in the mirror and admit at some point, take a step back and think to yourself what you ought to be doing different cause what you're doing ain't working... You could start by standing firm and not hauling for low rates. But that only goes so far. The next thing would be don't go to bad markets. Already been pointed out east coast is bad even when it's good.. Unless you have a few connections. You'll definitely need those since you live there but as long as you're wearing that attitude on your sleeve you're never going to make any. It's not my fault cause I don't "stand with you" or whatever... ...you see when I screw up or make a mistake I admit that and move on... On a whim (because I had no connections then and took what looked like an ok rate but turned out not to be) I once went to PA and could not get a rate back to the midwest or southeast so I ended up shorthauling until I found myself in Rhode Island. At that point I just said to hell with it and deadheaded 1,000 miles back home.. Never again. Don't have any need for that market nor a desire to learn it. I didn't get mad at the brokers for all the fools out there who happily gobble up $1.00 a mile, what good would that do? I didn't get mad at my fellow drivers when they didn't stand with me protesting poor rates cause I made a boneheaded decision all by my lonesome to go up there...

So you won't take the chance and spend 3-4 hours out of 5 days to see if you can drum up a direct connection that will possibly benefit you then and in the future? Instead you would rather sit and watch the loadboards that are posting low rates. Wow, you might want to look at your business plan and thought process. I for one would care less about the loadboards and go meet face to face with the local businesses.

I wasn't the one that made the commetn, but I strongly agree with Bill. A fuel advance in my mind is the broker or carrier doing a o/o a favor. If you don't have enough money to cover your fuel you are in more trouble than you think. How did they beat you out of it and the rest of the funds? Also C&S is known for causing problems. Take for example loading out of ES3 in York, PA. It is a C&S facility that is horribly ran and I load out of there. My fix is to charge more for even going there. Detention time is something that should be spelled out in every load confirmation of it isn't in the contract. I am guessing the communication between you and the broker on that C&S load wasn't the greatest.

When 15.4 of the 15.5 posts per minute are the same recycled crap nobody wants? Or TQL and the like posting one load 10 different ways and recycling it every 15 minutes? Or 10 lowballers each posting the same piece of a load that none of them have actually locked in, because it's on a shipper's load list?

By now you should know the 95% that aren't worth calling in the first place. You should also know what brokers have good shippers on your lanes and keep in touch with them.

I live near Atlanta and ask for more than that. If it's the right broker on the right load, I get it. Sometimes I don't. After only two years I pretty much know where refrigerated crap in my area is coming from, going to, and what they are willing to pay on it. If someone offers me $1.80/mi to anywhere from home, I won't do it. ESPECIALLY from home.

So why not quit calling on Kenny's company? I did after about one month in business.

More to the story, I'm sure. Let's pretend there isn't. You're blaming a series of your bad decisions on the broker!

    1. You agreed to move at the offered rate. I don't think there was a gun to your head. Or maybe there was?
    2. Then you waited 5hrs to load. With the exception of some meat plants where that is expected (and I priced it into my rate or needed some sleep anyway), I get itchy if I'm not on a door in an hour and the truck ain't rockin soon after. At the two hour mark I'm asking for a commitment on detention and hinting at leaving. At three hours it's not a hint any more. Have you ever actually given a broker a deadline, or failing that, seen the look on a shipping managers face when you tell them to pull the GD dock plate NOW because you're leaving? I didn't think so.
    3. Anyone who's ever been to C&S once knows they suck. If this was your first time you get a pass. Otherwise you knew what to expect and should have priced it in and got it in writing.

Rollin Coal got it right. You are you're own worst problem. It's got nothing to do with a European accent. "No" is the easiest word in the English (and Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese) language to know and use.

:smt033 And we have in writing the reasons for randoms.

A fuel advance?!? Really?!? From a company with solid credit?!? :crybaby:

This reads like a manifesto rather than exposing anything.
