You plan accordingly and know where you can stop ahead of time.
Doesn't matter if your out of hours if the man in the big hat tells you to move....then you move.
I heard rumor they're starting to kick guys out of those pull offs, i dont run the pa pike so i couldnt tell ya for sure though.

Got to love darlington. The unloaders there are ridiculous. I was doing daily runs into darlington and one day it would take 30-45 min to unload next day would take 6 hours. It was never the same. I will also comment about the Laredo issue that was talked about a while back. Every driver that takes a load there pays a Mexican transfer fee. O/O's, LP'S, company doesn't matter. Everyone has that taken off the line haul. It usually equals $43. I am an O/O at Pgt the only time I have had to pay 100 is when I transloaded from the covered wagon to a Mexican carriers trailer. That's the only time Any driver pays 100. Pgt is a decent company. I've been here a lil over 2 years now. Made great money as a company driver. 6 months spent as a company driver I grossed $48,000. Laredo is horrible right now sat there for 6 days over new year. Texas is slow but it's the time of year it will pick up. You guys can complain all day and all night about the small bunk trucks. They are well maintained reliable machines. You can say you can go to another company and have a better truck. In this industry there are trade off drive a great looking company truck and make no money (TMC) or drive a truck that looks like its been through hell and back but runs great and make a nice check week in and week out. Most of the companies that have great looking tractors would rather put the money to the truck instead of to the driver. So if u want a bigger truck go to TMC or someone like that or go out an buy your own rig. I went out and bought mine after 6 months at Pgt.

Well I made it home last night with just 7 min on my 70 hr clock. I got a load from NJ Going to Roanoke, VA. after I delivered that yesterday morning I had only 6hrs left on my 70. I still had to pick up my load for Monday. They were trying to get me one out of Charlotte since I was close, but I ended up driving to Darlington, SC. I logged as much sleeper as I possibly could because when I got there I had around 2.75 hrs. By the time I got loaded and secured I had only 2hrs and 50min and my gps said it was 2hrs 47 to my door. Well I hit 95 and just laid the pedal on the floor the whole way and I got there around 2100.
I have a load of rebar on the deck that has to go to Cedar Bluff, VA. It is an open delivery I just have to get there by 2200. My dispatcher gave me that because my wife is in the reserves and she is drilling this weekend. I got to see her for 1 hour last night then she had to go. She has to stay at the hotel because it is too far to drive back in forth. So it is just me and my son all weekend. I will update again soon. -
Can any of you PGT'ers tell me if this so called wallboard (building materials) division is really a separate division where that's what you primarily deal with?

It is not a myth. There is a real division, but you will haul what they need moved, and PGT primarily moves steel. I have only been at it a short while, but I would say less than 20% will be building materials. I would say it opens you up to a lot more freight though, because they are going to give you steel just like the steel haulers, but if you get out where there is no steel to move and need a back haul, you have other options.
