That M11 engine is going to blow at MPGs. He mentioned he is going to be running at gross weight. Pulling that much weight with a little throw away engine is not going to produce good MPGs because the engine is working itself to death all the time.
Any empty running and it'll make good mileage.

This is the first I've heard about older trucks being required to meet 2007 EPA standards. I'm wondering if Guy'slady can provide us with a link to back up her statement on that.

Thanks for all the advice. Are full fairings for comfort or do they help the vehicle survive as well.

My home stretch is the dreaded BQE or I-278 in Brooklyn NY; it's more like off-roading than an interstate.

It's not the EPA standards I refer to. It's CARB standards, which the EPA usually follows suit with them very quickly. You know, if CARB does it, EPA will do it soon after, kind of thing. To find CARB standards, go to www.californiaairresoursesboard.gov

I'd so much rather be safe than sorry.

That link is no good. Try http://www.arb.ca.gov/homepage.htm

I am looking for the proof of your statement that older trucks will be forced to become 07 compliant. So far nothing.

Its possible you were saying older engines can't be tampered with, but that is not saying they will be forced to become 07 compliant. Without changing the engine and adding a particulate filter that will never happen.

I remember reading many months ago, that the goal of CARB is to try and get all of the older trucks compliant to 07 standards. My understanding was this was going to require alot of trucks to be traded in and new equipment purchased.

I have NO doubt that that is their goal. I know they are trying to do that in CA at the ports with the container haulers.

However I was disputing the statement that its already happened.

I'm assuming the guys that inspect Class 8 vehicles don't take to a $100.00 bill hanging out of your front jacket pocket like the guys in NYC that do the standard vehicle inspections.

Will the older N14 Cummins gobble up our home made bio-diesel like the 5.9's. Is there a gap in any of the engine versions that I should pay attention to...like 24V vs 12V in on the smaller cummins. We love the old 12V.

I have all the ppw in front of me, I am just going to have to find it on the website. It's a HUGE mess. They are putting one thing on the net, and another on the papers.

I promise I will either find a way to get it to you, or make the ppw appear on here. Even if I have to take pics of it and post them! LOL! (God, at the warped ideas I come up with!)

I misread, I thought he said he wasn't going to be hauling heavy.
