Just arrived and checked into the hotel. Haven't met my roommate yet. I think I'm the 1st to arrived. Waiting for Jack to show up and get settled. Then we are going to run to the terminal.

Background: I worked there in from 11/09-4/10, along with about 25 of my co-workers, when we were laid off from YRC immediately after the Yellow/Roadway merger. Most of us had about 10-15 years of seniority and experience at YRC, but couldn't hold our spots on the board so we got laid off some for 6-12 months or more. Millis treated us all really well considering they knew we would all be returning to our jobs when we got recalled, although at that time no one was sure YRC was going to stay in business. I would say I was treated with a lot more respect from the staff (especially dispatch and office) at Millis than I ever have been at YRC still to this day. I always got home every time and on time when I put in a hometime request and the training dispatchers will work with you if you have an unusual circumstance or emergency come up. Obviously, I returned to YRC when things improved because I have a lot of time invested there, the pay is union, and my pension is there. I will say to you new drivers that it is truckload work, so there will be a lot of unpaid time but there is at all truckload companies. Also, there was a lot of freak weather that winter in places that normally don't get a lot of snow and Millis was very supportive if I made the call to park the truck and sit it out, even if there was a delay to the delivery appointment. The most important thing was communicating through the Qualcomm and keeping dispatch in the loop so customer service could reset your appointment, as long as you communicated, there was no repercussions whatsoever. I will also say the tractors are very good (I had a KW T-2000) and most of the trailers are in decent shape, too. So I would (and have) recommend Millis to a new driver and wish all of you the best luck as you start in Richfield. Make sure you walk across the street from the terminal to the Sawmill Inn Restaurant behind the bank, it is very good.

2 1/2 hrs. to go before my millis experience begins. Took a drive out to the terminal yesterday after I got settled at the hotel, met and spoke with a few drivers that were there. Real good group of guys, were willing to speak with me and fill me in on a few things. Settled my nerves, although I'm still a bit nervous, which I know will pass before the day is over. Will update this evening.

I knew some guys in GA and NC that did the same as you, going to Millis during the YRC merger. I'm pretty sure they are all back with YRC now too.

day 3 complete: bobtailed around the yard today. Toward the end of the day we ventured on our first trip off the yard and on US 41. What an experience.
