Think about this - why do companies offer a sign on bonus? Desperate for Drivers? Or, do they need to use them to supplement your pay when you have low miles and low pay?
Sign On Bonuses - are they really worth it?

I'll tell whats worse? These company cheerleader drivers who get a set amount of referral money to recruit new drivers, some of those cheerleaders make a killing bragging about this and that at the company they drive for and some of these schmucks have the nerve to tell you they don't recruit.
Yeah right! Can't stand some of these big mouths!Balakov100 and Regional Life Thank this. -
A sign-on bonus is to entice drivers to come to work there. However, (I use this word a lot) it is paid in encrements, because, a new hire could get his sign-on bonus and bail aweek later. So, a $500 bonus will be paid, for instance, a $100 after first dispatch, then another $100 30 days later etc. Plus, it's taxed. While we're on the subject, be advised that many companies will back charge you for orientation food/motel/bus etc. if you quit before 6 months.

Well, of course they will back charge you for that stuff! They pay to get you to their facility, put you up in a room and feed you, drug screen, physical...etc. Companies do alot of under handed crap, but I can't blame them for that!!
