I got a 3 month medical card for high blood pressure. When I go back, do I have to take the whole physical or just the blood pressure?

I don't know about the DOT physical, but if you want to lower your blood pressure, start using the mineral MAGNESIUM. Magnesium deficiency causes high blood pressure. Get yourself a magnesium red cell test from your doctor and I will guarantee you that you have a severe magnesium deficiency problem. Don't use the pills. They don't work. Use the oil that you rub onto your skin. Ask the doctor for the magnesium RED CELL TEST ONLY!!! MAKE CERTAIN THAT IT IS THE RED CELL TEST, not the white cell test. Almost everybody in the USA is severely magnesium deficient as this mineral has been stripped out of our soils years ago and, therefore, is no longer in most of our foods. Interestingly, cocoa powder is a good source of magnesium. Dark chocolate and chocolate ice cream is actually beneficial to your health. So is peanut butter, which has magnesium also. If you drink bottled water, use Fiji Water, which has magnesium. Magnesium oils, which are sold in natural food stores, are the easiest way to bring your magnesium levels back to normal. It takes about 3 years to get your levels back to normal.
rjones56 and Homemade1959 Thank this. -
Nope, just the blood pressure check, good luck!

And stay away from salty foods, coffee and caffeine, and eating heavy meals when you go back too.
I take magnesium pills and I know there are better brands out there like Nutri West, but have to stick to Walmart or CVS. They usually recommend potassium, and calcium in balanced proportions. Some of the blood pressure meds may contradict this though and you may not be able to take them. -
I never heard about the oil before, may have to check into it in the future.

TYVM for that info. I'm going to have to check this info.with my doctor. I didn't know about the blood test or the difference in magnesium in pill form v.s. oil. I know about the benefits of chocolate but that adds calories that I don't need. and as far as I know....
for the 3 month D.O.T. card youdon't go thru the whole physical again they just check your blood pressure and make sure he's below,140/90. if it is they will give you a one year DOT certificate from that point on, and I use Concentra facilities they are nation-wide and have access to your DOTmedical history. in case your are OTR and there is a question you have access to them just about anywhere.Last edited: Jan 15, 2013

Fish Oil is good also.It can expand blood vessels.

Fish oil in any form is good for BP, as is Pomegranate juice as a replacement for red wine which is also good but not while on the job. Drinking water is the cheapest method, 6-8 bottles a day in place of coffee or tea. I put Crystal Light powder in mine to make it more interesting. Chugging 4-5 bottles of water a hour before a BP test will drop the numbers in your favor.
In most cases it is weight that causes BP problems followed by the eating habits of a truck driver. Loose the weight and the BP will correct itself. I'm not preaching here because I can look in the mirror and see another fat b'stard that needs to change a few things!
Good to see you back LMB, hope the wifey is doing well.
