Let me start by saying boyd is the best co. I have worked for so far and I have worked my fair share of companies reefer and flatbed. First and formost flatbed is not for everyone. Its hard work youll sweat you tail off and with where we go your not always going to have a shower avail. Some of these stell mills and customers are in the middle of nowhere and youll sleep in a gravel lot. As far as pay goes I believe we are starting out at 38cpm and when you first start youll run 2200miles or more consistantly as long as you prove u can handle it to ur fleet manager. Now once your new hire honeymoon is over then miles will change. Currently I will run 3500 one week then 1200 the next. Boyd wont let u make more than 60k a year. If that works for u great but I personally dont like being held back purposely when I know I can make more. Your first year youll make 40-60 a year depending on how u run. Hometime for u in tn should be great most of our drivers live in the south.

Typing on my phone sorry for the spelling and incomplete post. Anyways, your hometime will not always be consistant but if u run hard and take care of your fleet manager theyll take care of u. Sometimes im home for 18 hrs sometimes 3-4 days. Staying out longer than one week is an option and I recomend it as it will benefit your paycheck. Trucks are governed at 62 on the speedo so in reality its 60. The pros are best pay for a company driver, best hometime, and best treament compared to other companies. The cons are slow trucks, inconsistant miles once youvebeen here a while, maintnence trys to be cheapALL the time and u have to stand up to them, boyd holding u back on miles since they dont want u to make more than 60k, swapping loads with other drivers to get them home and getting their crap equip in exchange for your good equip, and being forced to race your forteen hr rule to pick up a new load where u end up violating hos rules.to get to the closest truckstop or falsify your logs and be stuck sleeping at the shipper.
Honestly the only reason im still here is becuz no other company pays better, other companies hometime stinks, and lease purchase programs are a scam.
Honestly I think boyd would be a great start for you until u learn more about the industry and get your feet wet and until u figure out what works for u.
Personally I just need more income I have a lot responsibility at home. -
TN? Not far from the Cartersville drop yard, you may be home. Boyd tries VERY hard to get drivers home, dispatchers like Mr. Westbrook will hold loads and if nothing better pops on their screens. Communicate, Communicate, Communicate! Your truck will be one that as gone through hell more than once, but new ones are coming in. Any Q's PM me.
Yup, I'm late for the party. -
I was with them early 90's. Good company then and would assume it still is

On the third day of orientation you will do a video conference with EVERYONE in the company. Basically you just stand up and say "hi my name is".
