I just started training a week ago. We were driving through Cali and I was given a ticket for failure to drive in right lane. I was in middle lane about to get over. I live in Georgia and don't want to have to come to court here I would like to pay the fine I looked on city of Beaumont website riverside county and can't find a phone number for my questions. Anyone know what the fee is for this charge and how many points? Is this charge payable by phone or do I have appear in court to pay I HOPE NOT WOULD BE REDICULOUS . The cop said I will receive a letter in the mail in a few weeks anyone know what that letter will say never been pulled over in a truck in Cali.

i would say the process will probably go something like...

receive letter that says you got a ticket, giving you the option of pleading guilty or not guilty. may or may not give fine amount.
send in letter. if fine amount was given, you will probably be able to plead guilty AND send the money in one shot. if not, then you send in the guilty charge and wait for a SECOND letter giving the amount of the fine.

either way..youll most likely be better served by pleading not guilty. of course, if you wont be in the area, this would involve hiring a lawyer, which would minimize the advantage. you MIGHT be able to buy into one of those trucker legal plans and have them help you, i dont know.

the advantage of pleading not guilty would be getting it reduced, which will almost always happen. they want money...clogging up the court system with minor incidents is counterproductive to them.

Sad part is he was in the seat next to me not saying anything about the lane I was in or I would have followed instructions. I don't have the money for any of these lawyers I guess I'm just going to have to pay it over the phone for now and I will be leaving the company I'm with. I'm not going to say which one but some of you might already know. I'm told it's just about the worst company there is. Hope this won't make it to hard for me to get on with Schneider or a similar company later this year. Failure to drive in right lane in Cali. I was looking in my Mirror to get over and was going to wait on the cop car to pass then I got lit up. Terrible week for me got to experience over the road team driving and an in depth look at the industry and what I want to do with myself and to me that will outweigh the ticket and the money I have lost on this trip even if it makes it harder to get a trucking job.

You live and learn. It shouldn't have much of an impact on you other than the wallet.

I had the same thing happen to me in training. Luckily he just yelled at me over the loud speaker. It was kind of funny because I didn't know where the voice was coming from. God was talking to me. All I heard was "get out of that lane". Who, what, where?? :biggrin_25524::biggrin_2559:

It is your responsibility to report it to your company and your home state DMV if you don't live in CA. You have 30 days. Your company usually gives you a form to fill out once a year. But I would give safety a call.
