Too tired lol. I go to bed at 6pm, get up 1230am to be at work by 2am. We leave at 230, I go to sleeper for the drive to wherever we go, then go on duty, and imagine going to the gym and working out both lifting weights and cardio at the same time for 10 hours straight. That's what it's like for me lol.
Then after all that, tired as all get out, gotta drive back to the warehouse. That's a typical day. I get to sleep In on Monday until 2am, I don't dispatch till 4am but we have a back haul that day too. Not sure where we're going.
Also, since Tuesday of last week, I have
-lost 8lbs
-pulled a tendon in my shoulder
- pulled my right bicep muscle
- over stretched my Achilles' tendon in my left foot
-twisted my right knee
And last but not least, bruised my tail bone when I busted my butt in a fridge at one of the customers. That happened last Tuesday, still hurts.
But yeah, the pay is worth it, I was told two things by the other drivers
1. Learn to drive tired
2. This job is going to beat you up, it'll take about 6 months for my body to adjustBayle Thanks this. -
This is true. In about 6 months you will be doing the same things but they suddenly won't be a big deal, you'll be stronger and what made your body ache for days on end will just be routine body movements that don't really feel any different than walking.
2.5 years at Coke hoofing stacks of pop taught me that.
DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -

Well I finally got a long run today, went in at midnight and drive 7 hours to Montgomery, AL. We have 4 stops and already have 3 done. Then off to a back haul of ice cream from blue bell. Then back to Florida by 7pm hopefully
I'm exhausted, got off work yesterday at 2pm, came on duty at midnight today. One thing I miss about OTR is taking 12-15 hour breaks when I wanted lol. Here, you take your 10 and back at it. Although I only work 4 days a week so I can't complainCheryl Thanks this. -
Life after Roehl was hard to get used to at first, but we're starting to get into a new routine. Chris did 3 weeks with a trainer on the gas board..they would leave at 2am and be back between 2pm and 4pm. After that he had to go to Canton OH for a 2 day safety class...it was basically a review of the hazmat rules and the Smith System of driving.
He decided not to stay on the gas board because even though he would be home every day, he would be working 2nd shift and weekends..which defeats the purpose of being home to see the girls run in their meets or things like that. He went on the oil board where he is home every other day and weekends. This week he left on Sunday, was back Monday, left this morning and will be back tomorrow night and then he'll leave Thursday morning and be back Friday. He only runs to a few states..CT, NY, MD, VA and of course PA.
Pay wise it has been a world of difference. They pay hourly while in training and the gas board, and they didn't work any less than 60 hours each week. The oil board is paid per load, each load has a set price depending on where it's going. He made 37,XXX this past year with Roehl (11 months)...He should make 50,XXX in his 1st year with KAG.
All in all it has worked out for the better for us, but it's only been 12 weeks....a whole lot can happen before the year is up.
DrtyDiesel, -LLL-, Bigdubber and 4 others Thank this. -
37k isn't bad for 7/7 but certainly not worth being away that much and only getting paid that.
