the police have concluded (preliminarily) that the car cut him off and in an effort to save the car, he veered off the road and wound up running into a concrete pillar

so basically, he is a hero for saving someone's life, at the cost of his own

i wonder what would have happened if he just flattened the car? bad truck driver, bad bad truck driver

He's a better man than me, I would have flattened the car and saved my own life. But I guess until your in one of those life and death circumstances reflexes set in.

So I am guessing they want to bring the driver of that car in for questioning.

My step-father, the driver of this rig, was likely wearing his seat belt. He was an exceptional driver with a perfect record. He had a lot to come home to and we will never be able to welcome him home again. His truck exploded on impact and I don't believe a seat belt would have helped.

Thank you... he is a hero. He always has been to his family and now the rest of the world knows it too. Breaks my heart that we won't ever see him again.

My sincere condolences to you and your family. Your stepdad was a hero and did something I am sure so split second fast so he didn't kill the person in the car, he didn't think of himself.

He may have broken the seatbelt from the force of the crash, it doesn't say how fast the traffic was going at the time. I wonder if there is anything left of the seatbelt fastening, if it was still hooked or not.

No one knows the day or hour we will be called home, so be prepared at all times.

I just saw the scarring on the concrete as I was driving north from Laredo, but other than that, it looked like nothing had happened.

Oddly enough, my phone was playing "Down In A Hole" by Alice in Chains at the time.

My condolences to the family and friends of the driver. Bossoutlaw88, Your comment is condoling for the family but why do you carry a waterproof phone in the desert? Expecting 40 days and 40 nights of rain?
