We are recent grads and are considering USX. What does the road test consist of? We drove in school, but did not do any hairpin turns and we want to be prepared in case it's a extreme test

I highly doubt you'll have any hairpin turns but you may have a good share of turning to see how your turning is and maybe across a track to see if you shift across the tracks or not.I don't think your test will b e too stressful. They just mainly wanna make sure you can handle the semi before going out with a trainer. How's your up and down shifting?Ppl have more trouble downshifting but don't sweat it,your tester is'nt going to ecspect perfect shifts.

Thanks, I don't do too bad with my downshifting. We drove 10 speeds in school, does USX use 10 speeds?

hiya casinogal!
Road tests at Us Xpress are very straight forward and are rather quick. They don't try to do anything that might trick you, or judge you for imperfect shifts. They understand you're just starting out and you are going to make mistakes. Like the other poster said they're just seeing if you can handle the truck and trailer. They will make you back, but between you and I; if you don't hit anything backing you'll pass. Again they know your new, nervous, and tired from your long bus ride.
Most trucks are 10 speed.
Just be safe, and take your time.

Road tests are different depending on the terminal. I tested in Irving and then did the tests as a trainer on Tunnel Hill and Shippensburg.CasinoGal Thanks this.
