I've noticed the same things, and talked to drivers who don't have a TV in the truck, or a laptop, or some books to read. They'll stare out from behind the wheel...or hang out in the truck stop, drinking coffee..for hours.
Would drive me nuts. As alone as we are out on the road, I have things I want to do when I get parked.
Internet, read, TV, not to mention sleep!
Park, and then sit there and look at everybody

When I was otr I liked to park then watch everyone else park. Like MNdriver said, you can pick up things on how people back, how much they jack the truck and trailer and things like that. I find it interesting how different trailer vary so much in how they track.
AZS Thanks this. -
I usually sit in my chair and come on here with the iPhone it's used like a laptop. Reading and watching videos. Everyone is different. I suppose I should get off my rear and go for a walk , even brought sneakers along this week but its been brutally cold out so perhaps next week. I've thought about putting one of those flat screens in the truck but worry I will keep watching tv when I should get some sleep instead. I saw someone say psp I assume they meant play station. Hahahaha to each there own. I suppose with the new generation of truckers comes a lot of new things to have in the truck now for entertainment.

good responses. I can see the logic in it now. and I do it also when I'm waiting for the spots next to me to fill up. it can be relaxing doing nothing

It's expensive but I live on the road and don't have bills at home. I use a phone with a hotspot. so it's like wifi zone and I can connect multiple devices at the same time.

Real life is what's happening outside the window. Virtual reality is what's happening on your electronic devices. Too many ugly trucks nowadays tho makes it not as enjoyable. And not nearly as many "sparkling" personalities on the radidio to chat with.
Think of all the sitting and staring folks did 200 years ago. Were humans meant to never have to exercise their own imagination by having electronic entertainment do it for them every down minute?
But yes I will sit wind down sometimes at the helm of my ship.MNdriver and runawayload Thank this. -
I sometimes sit there for about 45 mins to an hour and might be listening to the news on the XM, catching up my logs, and doing paperwork and planning for the next day. I might be on a phone call from home, or I may get on my phone and check out the locals to see who wants to come knock the boots...I also watch other drivers back up so that I can get an idea of what to do in certain situations. Sometimes I'll sit and listen to CB chatter and get a good laugh and watch what's going on around the truck stop, if I can see the highway watch traffic go by and imagine where people are going.

It's called "unwinding". And people watching. You've got to admit there are some interesting people that frequent truck stops. That's too much free entertainment to pass up.
Knotme, mattbh23, DrtyDiesel and 1 other person Thank this. -
It floors me sometimes how gys will just sitin that drivers seat.
I did a reset last weekend and there was a guy that I think was in his drivers seat 24 hours a day. I get up for breakfast hes there, everytime I walk by hes there, I come back to the truck late at night after dinner and hes there.
Doesn't make any sense to me but to each his own.skellr Thanks this. -
Good to know someone is watching. I'd give them a tip if they knew who took off my bumper while i was in the shower.
