This is 2013 not 2005. Get current data on repairs and availability. Volvo motors consistently have the lowest cost of ownership. Do some research looking at data from independent agencies.
And if you are leasing then you will likely be out of before warranty is up. Wait time at Freightliner dealer is insane.86scotty, Road Killer, Elroythekid and 1 other person Thank this. -
Wrong year and those issues where addressed in 2005. And biggest issue withD12 now is two EGRs. And I replaced 1 Volvo EGR for less than half what it cost me for single Cummins EGR.Road Killer, blacklabel, Vernita and 1 other person Thank this.

To each his own. Warranties are great except they don't pay you a dime while your waiting. I've never spent more than a day in a Freighshaker dealership and that was from getting a radiator replaced and mainly because they had to wait on the part.
Im not anti-Volvo or pro Freightliner but if the Volvo engines are so great now as stated then why are used trucks with Volvo engines 10-$15,000 cheaper?Road Killer and mitmaks Thank this. -
Ive got a volvo motor D12 now with 2 egrs 2OO6 engine. Ive replaced EGR valve 5 times in 24Ok miles. And a ECM. About the only place you can go for service for engine is the dealer.
Road Killer and Vernita Thank this. -
A 780 or a Cascadia? I'd take the 780 easily.
Road Killer and Vernita Thank this. -
There is a $5k premium and it is mostly ignorance. The is a several year old thread on here about my search. The d12 is a million plus mile motor. Parts and availability are available now but not so much in 2005, basis for all the stories. Value can be found if you know where to look.Road Killer and Vernita Thank this.
