Thanks but I'll wait to see the trucks in person or on here.. I don't do Facetube or Twitterbook or any of that.. This forum stuff is enough for me, lol...

rivierrat143, When you decided to go with TMC, did you go to Des Moines and talk to them in person or did you call a recruiter. I would like to talk to them in person but it's a long way from AR to Ia.

I applied to TMC right from the CDL school I went to and was accepted. From there I got a call from a recruiter and told them when I wanted to start. I planned on driving for TMC before I started the CDL school and it worked. You can go to TMCtrans.com and apply as well and if you qualify, you'll get a phone call.
I don't think any companies out there do a face to face thing before starting. If you get accepted, the two week orientation is your job interview. You can ask all the questions you want at that time and TMC is asking you a lot of questions too.

    Good luck!

Did you guys get assigned a trainer right out of orientation, or did you go home then meet your trainer? Im trying to decide whether to drive my self to orientation or not.

I chanced it and drove out to Des Moines hoping to be able to drive back home after orientation and it just so happened that the trainer for me was on vacation the week I finished so I drove home. But, I only live 5 hours from DSM and I have a few friends that live there who could have came to get the car had I had to leave right after orientation.
It's all up to where your assigned trainer is at the end of the 2 weeks. If he's in the area, you will leave from there. If not you will be able to drive home to meet up. My advice would be to rent a car to get there and rent again to get home after 2 weeks if it works out. I think TMC will help cover the cost but you will have to confirm this with the recruiter. Ask him a lot of questions. Thats what he's there for.

    Good luck

And is the trainer time performance based at all? Or is it cut and dry 5 weeks regardless

I was asked during my 4th week if I wanted to get in a truck early. I declined and was glad I did. If you have never done the flatbed thing before, there is a lot to learn as far as securement. The course you get during the 2 weeks shows you the principals of securement. Your trainer shows you reality. We haul a lot of different product that requires a lot of different securement. And learning to tarp properly will only be learned with your trainer. All that orientation teaches you is how to fold one. Don't short change yourself because your "ansey" to get your own truck. You will regret it.

    Good luck!

Hi I'm from SC and I'm just doing my trucking research before i go get my CDL and I was wondering would TMC be a good company for me to start out with. I see a lot of their trucks picking up in my town of Cheraw, SC near bennetsville and Florence SC. How is the pay?? How is the home time?? Do you pick your truck??

Just type TMC in the search box and start reading. This question has been asked and answered a lot on this board.
