Chinatown, you said, "Some states, you get a ticket for moving over to let traffic merge. They are the ones merging, not you. It's OK to slow a little, but do not change lanes or you can get a moving violation."
Pplleeaassee tell us where those states are? Show us the statute please.
How about checking facts before posting hearsay.

You didn't do anything wrong if it was just as you say. You turn your signal on and she freaks out? It's on her. You didn't cause sheet. As long you aren't involved roll on down the road. Don't buy all this BS on here that you did something wrong. She was blabbing and she lost control of her vehicle. At least that's what you read. You know nothing about her or her driving woes. You were being a professional watching your speed and lane not baby sitting some loser.

Wow, this thread is hurting my head. Changing lanes is a moving violation?
There is no one size fits all for moving over. Some places the merge lane is a half mile acceleration lane. Other places it's a very short ramp. Sometimes there's very little traffic on the highway and you get a large group entering the highway at the same time with a short merge lane. Other times there will be a lot of traffic and only one person trying to get on with a half mile to find a space.
Use you head but don't do any drastic speed adjustments. That makes you unpredictable and messes up everyone else.
On ramps don't usually sneak up on you. Anticipate and adjust depending on the situation.road_runner and Tonythetruckerdude Thank this. -
Sounds to me that she was texting, if she dropped her mobile. I agree, when pulling doubles you stay in your lane, you have the right away while on the freeway, the cars on the get on ramp have to yeild.
I had a young lady come off the get on ramp right behind me, she was swerving back and forth behind me for a mile or two. she then decided to pass me in the hammer lane, still swerving back and forth. she got right beside me, she was texting, when she stopped for a second, I let the air horn go, her phone went flying ang she grabbed the wheel with both hands, she looked up at me and I waved my finger at her like i was saying no no. She can kill someone else. I had a family to get back to.road_runner and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
so your one those!!
tires are crossing the line and now the blinker comes on.
You should always signal well BEFORE you make your move.
turning it on to tell someone you want to change lanes,BEFORE YOU ACTUALLY DO, is the proper way to use your directional lights.GoneButNotForgotten Thanks this. -
Folks, the way some people think in todays society is that when a car is merging in the slow lane and you move over trying to be courteous, they take it like you are trying to pass them with speed and then they start a match speed trying to make you look like a fool when traffic is backing up behind you in the middle lane! The way i used to do it, if they start this matching game is that i send them a message, but doing that i almost freak this car so much that he almost lost control and could've killed himself if he lost total control! After that, i just slow down, and let them merge, it's safer and no more messages have to be sent.
