Can a dot officer sit in his pickup for almost over a week strait, he was absent for a day and a half from here. But it's a road to a intermodal depot owned by the cp rail. This is a two lane road that dead ends to these yards. He pulls them over before the yard and gives the lucky person a level 1.
is it legal for him to do this over and over for a month strait? It just kinda seems like harassment to me. But honestly my truck isn't junk and will dot so I don't really care I'm just wondering. This same officer passed me in September. But It's pretty ridiculous he probably gives at least 12 level 1s a day. It's also been up to -38 windchill during these inspections.
D.O.T sitting at the same spot for a week.

if it's maintained or owned by the state or county, then yes he can. he found a honey hole for revenue. if it is owned or maintained by the railroad they can kick him off or have given him permission to work it.bullhaulerswife and aiwiron Thank this.

Yeah some morons haul heavy container loads to where he's at and they have junk chassis so I suppose its a honey hole for him. But doesn't it kinda seem like he's harassing us to some form?
He pulls them over rite on the edge of the property it's pretty pathetic. Honestly I hope tons of people lose there jobs and work. Ill be happy to haul it for more. I just hope I don't get screwed with a chassis that was dropped from my co worker that I can't fix just so I can bring it past him. -
Tampa Florida land fill is one way in and out, DOT sets on top of it like a mother cat with kittens.
Like superhauler said, if it is a state owned or controlled road or has permission the DOT can do that.bullhaulerswife Thanks this. -
I just think its unfair advantage.

If people are dragging junk as you put it I hope the DOT burns them, unsafe is unsafe and people like the ones dragging junk is why DOT is up everyones exhaust anyways for Kriste sakes.
I hate DOT, but hate idiots pulling junk even more.magoo68, 'olhand, SHO-TYME and 1 other person Thank this. -
just find a wolf and let him lose in the vicinity of where this guy sits at about 2AM!

but how does it work when the shipper is 10miles away and the nearest cat scale is 25 miles. You scale at 78000lbs at shipper and are sent on your way to the rail. How does this work if they find you overweight but not over gross? Most of the tandoms don't move.
i don't like dot either but legal is legal -
It's 8am to 4pm

Hey-I don't know.I'm not out there. It seems to me there are problems enough that he's not bored. If every truck he checked did not have a problem, his boss would tell him do something else. So,in my thinking,DOT has a reason to be there.
Once a year,DOT will set up on the road in/out to the Tucson,AZ fuel tank farm for three days.I always tried to not work those days. All you had to do was clear your first inspection, keep your paperwork and it was your pass after that.I always tell them i don't have a problem with them doing their job. That makes me do mine better.Take care.Brian
