I will happily skip the tarp loads and the confusion over compensation, but that's just lazy old me. Or maybe have Martin tarp for me, hummm I like that idea alot.

Melton pays $40, I think TMC pays $25 and Roehl pays $22 last time I saw.

Seeing as it's earnings, it's taxed.
Ron, some days I'd be better off JUST tarping loads mate!:biggrin_25522:
I look at it like it costs me nothing to do it (not running the truck etc) so I dont mind it too bad. Not saying I like it, but so long as it isn't to bad a deal I will do it. Tarps have been bought and paid for many years ago, so they are covered.

Actually he gets paid to pad, lug the tarp up the ladder, roll it out, flop the sides down and secure it. And no the tarps aren't the same size because the way it usually works around here is we only leave the yard with the tarps we need.....our drivers are only out a day or two at a time. They might take a 2' steel tarp or a 12' drop tarp as the job requires. In my mind, carrying the heavier tarp up the ladder should pay more than tarping a 8' wide steel plate.

I was looking at using sq feet of tarp not counting the ends....i.e. 10 feet on one side plus 10 feet on the other side plus 8 feet of width multiplied by the length.

But now I see that's not what I want because a 48' long steel plate would pay more than a piece 10 high by 15 long.

    Hi Terry,

Often the guy that does the delivery will be a different guy that does the pickup so I want to pay for tarping and then pay separately for untarping.
Not sure what you mean by being paid for half the job.

I agree with you. That job last night would have paid the driver $36/hr. If I was just running my own truck, I would take that all day. However, I am trying to pay a driver for what he does....I'd like to get to the point where they are happy to tarp....LOL.

I think its fair, im paid 15 to tarp and 15 to untarp, steel tarps or 8 foot drops doesnt matter....and that sucks.
