I did the same #### thing last night. I'm worried sick. Dense fog, black ice, and I missed the exit while worrying down shifting. I didn't see the scale until it was too late. I slowed down, turned on my flashers, and looked for a safe place to pull over. The fog was so thick and the road so slick I was afraid to stop. I moved on down the road thinking I was going to get pulled over. Nothing happened. My plan was to pull into the next scale and talk to them about it. Nothing was open. I'd never been that way before either. Now I wonder what is going to happen. I'm sure it an immediate termination with Swift. Any ideas about what to do?

I don't think I would worry about it. I quit my worrying once I got on I84. I think that if it was a serious problem they would have sent someone to chase you down. When I ran that scale, I was expecting it to be on the other side of the overpass some where. It never occurred to me to look down in a hole.

I ran up on one, when I was a rookie going into Wyoming up I-15 they flickered the light to park and come in, I went in the gal could tell I was new, She asked me for this and that and then said "where is your Drivers License?" I said "oooops I left my wallet in the truck I didn't have it in my hind pocket because I have a bad back already", She smile and said "I apologize for your bad back, is that mentioned on your Phys Card?" I said "yes" stuttering she said "Do you by chance remember your DL # I gave that to her she looked it up or ran it and pushed the binder across the table! a nd Said next time have your DL on you as well as you DOT Phys Card Good Night I yes ma'amed her all the way out the door!!!

Last time I checked you can't go into Wyoming on I 15
mslashbar Thanks this. -
Just got a prepass thingy also, I just hang slow and low like I have to go in. Seems to work for me, your mileage will vary.
If they did not come after you then it was not a big deal, far as prepass and the company I have no clue. -
Word of advice, if the scale is CLOSED and you get the red light PULL INTO THE SCALE. It happened once in Nebraska, me and two other trucks in front of me got the red light, I almost didn't pull in. I am glad I did because they were running a trap for vehicles equipped with Prepass. When in doubt PULL INTO THE SCALE!!

Oh please I have never pulled into a scale when it say's closed and I get a red light. I don't even pull into them when I get a red light and the ramp is full. Use common sense.

Well good for you, you keep doing that Special KDinomite Thanks this.

If the sign says closed you do not have to enter regardless of what light you get on the windshield.
When ky. went to prepass, the scale on 24 would be closed, but the red light would come on,i went by anyway,no problems.
Don't believe me,fine, call prepass & ask them what to do.Dinomite Thanks this. -
I am giving my experience, I know what happened in Nebraska. Futhermore, it specifically states on the signs "FOLLOW IN CAB SIGNALS." It never states "Follow In Cab Signals unless closed." If that is what they intend for you to do is bypass during a scale closure when receiving a red light, then they need to address this. Until I hear and receive in writing that it is okay to bypass when a scale is closed when receiving a red light, I will CONTINUE to enter a closed scale based on my past experience!
