Like I said... it's the insurance companies that are in the driver's seat on this. My opinion really doesn't matter, and no, it doesn't personally bother me to share the road with you. Just watch what the back of your trailer is doing when you're passin' me... OK?

I'm in a 2013 Freightliner LW, and I've got some friends in Pete's. They've both got their advantages and disadvantages, but they both seem to have good storage room. Pete's don't have a lot of head room, and no wrap around the windshield curtain, but they do have more leg room behind the bunk curtain and actually seal out all the light, a couple of things the Freightliner doesn't do. Freightliner's hold 200 gal vs. 100 for the Pete's. As far as I know there are no Pete's newer than 2010, and they'll be phasing out of the fleet sooner rather than later. As far as the International's go, I've been told the ProStar is the most comfortable of all the lightweights, but I've never personally seen the inside of one. There are still some 9400i's running around, and well, it's a 9400i. Pretty bare bones, but roomy. I was told by someone in Success Leasing that Prime only has 9 KW lightweights, and only one of them has an APU, so most FM's don't want them anywhere near their fleets. Hope it helps and best of luck to you!

kerosene jockey Thanks this. -
I'm one of those lack of recent experience drivers. I was told by Prime that after 4 weeks in teams at $600 per week, I will be starting at 41 cents. That is by far and away much more money than anyone else I could find for my situation. Will I get the miles? It seems very likely that as part of their OTR out for 3 weeks minimum fleet, all indications are "yes." Seems freight has a tradition of increasing greatly once Spring hits the Northeast. Time will tell. For me anyway, all indicators are pointing me toward Prime. Like every job everywhere, there surely must be very good and less than good days. I figure that's how life works. Now to get my paperwork ready.

Same with me. I can't wait.

So what are the advantages of the LW compared to a condo? After driving a condo in training what are the key differences? Curious since I'm going end of month to Springmo
-
You can and will get heavier loads, which of course means more freight/miles for you. Turning radius is shorter, also backing turning radius is shorter, easier to back.

Thx. It's the driving differences I've been seeking. Understand the load/ biz strategy. Saw several on I80 sun. About 10 prime tot in 50 mile stretch.
