Fill out an app, fill it out honestly and see what happens... if one will take you, chances are others will too. There are several companies that hire felons... Western Express comes to mind. You seem a less risky option than that.

If after training you don't at least make $650it a week there is something wrong. Just don't turn down any loads and you will be ok. Of course there will be weeks that it is slow and you don't bring that home also.

Its sad to say, but there will be alot of weeks you dont clear $650/week. You may make up for it other weeks, you may not. Nothings guranteed in this industry. If you absolutely have to have that every week, don't go trucking. Im not saying it's not possible, but more than not it won't happen.

I used to work for an industrial construction company several years ago and since many of our clients required security clearances, I was in charge of performing background checks on our employees & subcontractors/vendors. The reports would go as far back as when that person was 21 years old and would include any/all convictions from that age to current. However, if a charge was expunged or sealed, it would not show up nor could we legally request that information. This information, of coarse, is based on Virginia law. There are a few states that have passed recent laws limiting the amount of information an employer can obtain on an employee or potential employee.

I did a Google search and found a site where you can look up background check laws by state: http://www.bizfilings.com/toolkit/sbg/office-hr/hiring-workers/criminal-checks.aspx

I hope this helps and good luck!

Do yourself a favor and quit thinking that 'being so honest' is GOING to get you HIRED. It isn't... Tell them about ONE of them,,,and use IT and it only for your 'misdemeanor', time of suspension, and only time you ever, every went to jail. you got that soldier??? Do NOT tell them about both of them. It will NOT be on your old dac report/now 'hireright' report. After 7 years it will not show up on dac. shutyourmouth. do not tell about the possession charge. put it all on the ONE dui,,,,,not all 3. Or, you will not come into trucking. trust it. They will not find this stuff out...they won't. Not that far back. don't even tell them about one time, if you want. try it on one app. and wait a few days and see if you get hired. I bet you will. Then, go to the company you really, really want to work for and do the same, only ONE incident, ever, and it was the only time you went to jail, etc. You are pissin' in your boots if you tell everything.

I thought the The DAC employment report is a detailed summary of a trucker’s work history in the trucking industry.

But I'm not driving a truck, so is it the Criminal report you speak of as well as the MVR? Thanks.

the Criminal report might be a hangup. I really, really don't know. Ok? In that sense, I might be wrong in my original post, of "don't tell". I don't really have any good advice to give you. You might call a company that you do NOT plan on applying at, and ask them 'how far back in criminal report' do they go, and if it matters to them if you had 2 DUI's. Have you done that, and what did they say?
I would NOT tell any company of 2 dui's if they say on their site they won't take a driver w/2. I just wouldn't tell them. Let them find out. You have everything to lose if you do, and nothing to gain. I like what Bob Dylan once said, "to live outside the Law you must be honest". That can be interpreted as one having the philosophy of "Yes, I am lying by not telling of the second dui and possession charge, but it is between me and God, and I accept the risk and can live with myself, because I DO have to make a living, and I am a changed person even tho those who hire me say I might not be worthy". You friend, can do as you wish. You will anyway. 20 yrs old stuff and maybe you have learned a lesson. Some will flame me for telling you this. I can understand that. I don't care. I am not your nor they me in my shoes.
Sometimes in this world only ourselves know what is right and wrong and what you are capable of NOW. I can't tell you what to do. I can tho tell you if you tell THEM you have 2, most won't hire you. At least from what I've seen. And then you allow them to be your Judge and Jury.
Sorry if I've misled people. I look at our society and see the Rules truckers have to follow are put in place by people who want us to make them a lot of money, yet the industry got with politicians and decided how truckers should work, rest, and function. Does any Dispatcher , office worker anywhere have to go back to work after having only 10 hours off duty, and have that made into Law? No. So in a sense, we ARE a slave to the system. This same system had its politicians in congress get bought out by the SuperPAC's /lawyers/business owners who decided the fates of us, the drivers. They also ran our economy in the ground, with the lawmakers doing JUST EXACTLY what they were told to do by Big Business in 2008. Total corruption tho to the big Wall Street and Congress, it was 'making a profit for the Corporation' was legal, and everything they did WAS legal. It was. They INVENTED a new type of product, the insurance for the mortgages ,,,I forget what Wall Street called it, but they got Congress to go along with it. Did they care it forced a lot of people into houses that in earlier years they would not have gotten the mortgage, yet they got people to buy into it, then they foreclosed...and it is still going on. Who is making the money? The Rich guys. The guys who run the show. And we want to praise and honor and 'be honest' to these very slimeball aholes who start the wars, want us to fight them in the name of Patriotism,,,etc.

Do i have an attitude? I sure do. I could care less if anyone likes it. I see the system for what it is.
I find no dishonor in having a better paying job because I did NOT tell Big Brother of some 20 yr charge, instead of working for the local landscaper. Still a worker for someone else. Still THEIR slave. Get enough money saved and one can be free of all the crap, is my idea. I am not in your shoes tho and do not have the problem you have.
So then I might be 'full of it' by even suggesting this. It isn't a reality for ME, so how I think I'll shutup now. :)

So then, if Big Brother is such a ######,,,let him find out my old record, if that is his agenda. Let them. I say they can't find it, but I might be wrong. Someone else who has experienced should speak here, instead of ME. I doubt they are here tho. They are working in another field, probably, because they 'were honest'. Sheesh,,,it's life and life only.

Now that was a heartfelt reply...and to this point. A friend of mine (a really stand up guy), got a "pre hire" with a company, the man has family and wanted to better himself, I've known him for many years. Well, he has always had a problem falling asleep, so about 10 years ago ( he is 51), so on the app he stated the truth, he was prescibed ambien, he passed the DOT screen, cause they dont screen for ambien, he passed school with flying colors, went to the company, and was told, after "further review" they could not hire due to the sleep aid. That's a shame.

Crete was and maybe still is, doing 'sleep apnea' testing for some of the overweight folks, if you are over a certain BMI/body mass index ratio. I tested and was barely over the BMI, yet was found to have 'sleep apnea'. You might ask your friend if he has studied anything about it and ask him to study it if he has the symptoms. IF he is found to have it, I can GUARANTEE you he will be better off physically if he uses a 'CPAP' machine when he sleeps. They are about $1,000. Crete let us pay it off at $25 a week and we weren't charged for the overnight test.

I'd bet he snores, wakes with a jolt, tosses and turns when sleeping, etc. IF those symptoms are relevant, then he should go get a sleep apnea study done if he can afford it. It is somewhat a medical racket if you ask me, and I'm sure Crete doesn't pay nearly the amount of what one would pay getting their own study. If he has insurance tho, I'd guess they would pay for the study, and maybe the machine too. Is he a 'big sized fellow'? If so, odds favor him having sleep apnea.
His and anyone's life will change with these machines. It powers more air into your lungs. There is a flap of skin in the back of the throat that 'flaps' which causes the snoring. The muscles no longer hold it open when you sleep, thus cutting off the flow of air.
I would quit breathing for many seconds at a time, thus waking with a 'jolt'. It about threw my wife out of bed! My longest they tested that I went without breathing was 89 seconds,,,no foolin'. You brain senses you aren't breathing since it isn't getting oxygen, so it fires off Adrenalin into the heart, the heart starts beating faster causing you to breathe...
The machine keeps a small pressure built up on that flap, and as you sleep, it opens up that flap. i actually felt it open up, sub or unconsciously on the third night I used it, when I was asleep. I felt it open in the back of my throat. It was weird. I was asleep at the time.
The first day after using this CPAP machine I felt better, and did NOT have to take a nap in the afternoon that day!! cpap's save lives. It makes your heart not work as hard, since you now are getting the pressure to force the muscles in that flap to 'learn' to stay open, and breathe.
Hit him up with this and let him know about Crete's study. Maybe he should go there. If not, get the machine on his own. His life will change for the best.
And, it is medically recognized by the Feds and WILL NOT be a 'cause to not hire'. It is legal to have the machine. A simple cig lighter 400W inverter is what Crete gave to the users, to power the machine. Any other Crete drivers here can speak up, and tell your story. I bet you feel better and more healthy for using a CPAP.
Anyway, he could look around and find a company that will hire him, if he has a clean driving record.
