The concrete pillars are at the J's and maybe a few Pilots that were converted from Flying J, I can't remember if the Pilot at Benton Harbor, MI had pillars or not, but I know it used to be a J.
Good thread.

Ya, I just don't think the TSs and rest areas won't do much about it until there's actual data on accidents And hoping drivers slow down is pointless.

You want to slow trucks down, install some Mexican speed bumps. Those large steel mounds they imbed in the pavement, hit them at any speed over 10 mph and you will feel it.
aiwiron Thanks this. -
I bet that I can count on one hand the number of times that I have even turned mine on!

SSSHHHH! Please don't give 'em any ideas about speed bumps...I rank them right next to being surrounded by reefers on the annoyance level....

My husband is a creeper through the parking lots, we've "lost" good parking to idiots that past. Looseing the parking isn't really what ticks him off, it's the fool passing in the limited space.
My husband was idleing along at the trand speed of 5mph and stopped when a guy came out between trucks and had to scare the tar outa him with the city horn when some fool decided to pass us. If he hadn't of jumped, stopped and gave my hubby a dirty look, he would have got run over.
I carry my dogs across the parking lot, they don't know what a strait line is, just because it's easier to stop, dart or back-peddle quickly when someone goes speeding by.
I know he has passed heavy loads going up a hill that in turn will pass us on the flat ground, now sometimes he won't depends on how slow they are going, but he will slow down on the flat to let them pass quicker. -
my first truck had a 238 hp detroit in it a real speed demon
10-12 mph up just that lil grade in willington conn
the good ole days
the 3rd truck had 600 horses in a 1271 detroit just scary fast but that was 1982 i think -

This problem been going on since trucking started, but yes it's getting worse, i have a old swift truck, been converted and cruise will hit 70 easy enuff, all day long, but once in parking lot, any wear shipper's rec , truck stop, it's in low gear ,crawler speed , same way when i back up , in the truck stop , rec -shipper's, i get out many times too see my blind side, i am in my zone, i zone out those driver's who are honking at me , because i stopped there practice lap around the truck stop, then you get these idiot driver's out there, well i been driving 34 year's , dosn't matter 34 or one year, when your on 6 inch's of snow and ice road's you slow down, i left Janesville Wi, too Beaver Dam ,Wi, took me 2 and half hours on road's like this, 8 th gear all the way, then i noticed at pilot in Beloit somebody hit the cat scale there cement post, his right quater bumper still laying there and you could still see the the tire track's , the only way i can think of is too slow down these driver's is by the old gated system again , were you checked in time stamp it and out bound do the same , i think the 76 had this and i never seen any speeder's in there lot's
Logan76 Thanks this.
