A driver should make sure he is able to pass before he attempts to pass. If you jump out there and can't get the job done, how is that my problem? My solution is to speed up so you can get in behind me and let the traffic pass. I drive slowly, in a really fast truck. You can try it again, in a few miles. And whatever you do, don't barely crawl past me and almost hit my front bumper trying to get past, then slow down, making me slow down.

Terry it is not the fact they cannot gain ground, as I posted earlier my truck goes pretty fast like large car fast but if I am cruising along and a truck needs to get back in I am not speeding up but going to let off it and let them in.

Etiquette and common courtesy that is uncommon anymore with shake and bake CDL mill drivers.

That's just it, to me, "etiquette and common courtesy" would dictate, that if your truck can't get the job done, don't jump out there to pass! I know this truck driver is going to create an unsafe situation for me by cutting over in front of me. I already have an example of his judgment. He is going to cause me to stand on my brakes and he may throw up road debris and break my windshield. My best option is to speed up and he can pull in behind me whenever he thinks it is safe.

Well cutting back over too soon is another issue, that's bad driving.

I've seen the damage done by these bozos to the diesel islands, and to other barriers around truckstops. I dread the day when one takes out one of these new CNG fueling islands, and the death toll from the explosion and fire ball. But I'm sure the 3 seconds that they saved on their elog will be worth it.

As is trying to pass and not having the speed available to do it. Everyone of you that barely creep past me does it. How can I separate the two examples of bad driving. I have seen too many examples of drivers cutting back over in front of me then slowing down for a hill. Now I'm dropping gears like crazy because that truck doesn't have the nuts to get the job done. But, then we already knew that, didn't we?

When someone pulls in front of my slow truck, I back out of it, if they cut me off, I back out of it. It happened so many times the other night that I got a ticket for backing up on the highway.:biggrin_25511:

We are not all like that. Meaning governed creepers. I always leave plenty of room, to the point that often times 4 wheelers try to go around before I get back over. As a matter of fact; yesterday I did this and just put my blinker on to move back over and it happened it was a trooper that was about to go around, but when he saw me going over he came back, and went by when I completed my lane change. I honestly was a bit surprised.

I can't be bothered trying to pass someone who's only a mile or two slower if there's much traffic. Just because the top speed isn't that high doesn't mean you have to be up against the governor all the time.

As for the truck stops I see all kinds of trucks going too fast. Not just the 'plastic one's' as someone said.
