Yes.. a truck will run 100 mph on flat ground.. not just down a hill.. I hope your company has them cut back .. You shouldnt do it though.. I have done it when I was a young man with a big head and a bigger truck.. Now I have that same big truck and a hole lot more sense.. but your friend is correct..

sure its possible. hope your "i rode the little bus to school" friend only kills himself and not anyone else while he's pulling that moronic crap. he obviously has the intelligence of lint. if hes a company driver, id be calling his company and telling them to check the truck's speed history. dont know how its done, but know it can be done. he needs to find a new career, and someone needs to force that decision upon him before the idiot kills my kids...or yours.

Some people are as smart as a second coat of paint. Your friend is one of those people.

Well, your friend is partially correct. It can be done. Make of the engine has little to do with it, depending on how the rest of the drivetrain is spec'd. Its all about RPM's and Gear Ratio's.

Check out the Dana/Eaton Road Speed Calculator.

    With a 0.73 Transmission Final, 3.08 Rear Gear, 255/70R22.5 Tire @ 2200 RPM = 104 MPH!!!

The last clown that tried that at my carrier got a rather unpleasant call from the safety director, a visit from the security department (flown out especially to this clown's next destination,) a short trip to the nearest curb, and a suggestion that perhaps CR England or Swift may possibly have use for his tallents.

Tell your friend the real deal is not going down a hill at 100mph, but rather up a hill at 100mph.
