So in my 2012 prostar i was getting right around 6.5 MPG, before it blew up and crap. Now this loner truck a 9900i That was used by the bridge beam haulers. I am getting 8.8 on the same run that i get 6.5 with the prostar.

WTF am i doing wroung in the prostar?

The prostar is a 10 speed and the 9900i is a 13 speed. I am pretty postive i am driveing the 9900i harder than i drove the prostar since it has the power to climb hills.

More gears lower rpms less work and fuel a truck needs to climb or do whatever

I thought they didn't chop the nuts on those 9900I's because they were used to haul heavy and had to keep up with the rest when they ran in a convoy.

My 13spd Detroit 60 in my freightshaker gets 5.5 mpg. I blow alot of black smoke, trying to figure out what my problem is. Thinking its the EGR but I dont feel that power loss. But compared to my 10spd I can climb hills like no other with my 13spd. Also helps that I can build alittle bit of speed for the next hill to.

I am thinking maybe Operator Error on this one. Lol! Black smoke is ok. Besides you know you like seeing that, I know I do. Lol! I get an occasional stream of that every now and then. It is when you start seeing blue coming out now that is a serious problem.

Today was warm enough for me to have the windows open while driving. Got to listen to the tone the dual stacks make on this 9900i was a wonderful thing. To bad the prostar dont sound like it.
