I always wondered why Crete and Shaffer put things on their trailers like "Our most valuable resource sits 53' ahead" and "Our drivers are miles ahead." It is because you won't hear it from the drivers themselves..... with the exception of a few company pets and the company bloggers that usually respond to messages like the one I am posting. Their most valuable resource are the people in the office who don't have to use filthy port-a-toilets after hours at the terminals. If you have to stay in California, they send you directions to their yard located beside a cow feeder lot. It is a shared location with other companies. Not only do you get to smell cow poop and breathe in that dust... it is mixed with the human poop because of people pooping on the ground. There are no indoor facilities there anytime of day. They lost alot of the good freight we used to have. They do not pay detention 90% of the time.. they pay detention only if the customer will pay the detention requested. This company has really went down hill in the last year. I have been a driver here for a few years and I hate to see things get so bad and not seem to change.

After reading Evertruckers thread a couple years ago I gave crete a call, but didn't like what recruiter was telling me. They offered me .35 but I was making .38 where I was. Why would I go to a place that pays me less. I also like getting home ontime.

Electronic logs will bite them in the arse....sooner or later. It was standard procedure it seemed for the Lincoln plantation to mysteriously 'Adjust' a drivers avl hrs. I dont know if this is a wide spread practice with other companies, but this is plain DIRTY.

Been at Crete a year now....never have experienced "adjustment" of logs to increase my availability. If I have hours, I tell them. If not, I tell them. Aside from a few debates about available time (normal for most companies), it's never been an issue. If it ever becomes one, I'm gone that day.

Nothing is as good as it was before. You have to accept change and adapt to the way things are now. Its like that in every type of business. Those who cannot accept things eventually move onto other interests/work & are quickly forgotten. Hope I'm not coming off harsh.

Yep thats why I got out of doing OTR full time. Because it seemed that "adapting" meant making less money or pulling more lds to make the same money.
New HOS was great for hiring but in my opinion was a pay cut for the drivers and look what carriers are paying now' It's a absolute disgrace'
The only good part about being a OTR driver that I can see if it is not a lifestyle choice is the perdiem deduction on taxes.
Used to go by a truck stop and it would be half mty during the day, now they are full all the time with drivers sitting around for some computer to terll them they have had enough rest and can now drive. It's pathetic that so called professionals have been reduced to drones dependent on a computer to tell them when to drive and when to sleep.
