This is not what is going on here and if you read my earlier post you will see I am not attacking anyone. This man's claims are beyond the normal "I was in Vietnam and earned a Purple Heart or Bronze Star" and into War Machine Category. The claim of being Delta during his second tour when Delta was not formed until 2 years after withdrawal should ring bells. If all of this turns out to be true I will apologize to the poster and his uncle on this sight. If not then I will make this man famous and not in a way he will enjoy. If his claims are true he will have no problem with verifying them and will be glad to do so.

As a Vet myself it is not important for anyone to acknowledge my service, why? Because I did it without wanting for myself, I did it for my ####### country.
Do I like discounts? Yes but not to the point where my service is important enough to rub it in everyone's face.CondoCruiser, 48Packard, snowman01 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I like how people have disagreed with the OP, which I agree......but then took the time to toot their own horns on their achivements. You are no better than the guy you are badmouthing!
-
Then you have war heroes like John Kerry that got a Purple Heart for wounding himself in the buttocks .

Many veterans buying condos there now & spending vacation time there. I bought mine in China; great times in Hong Kong and it's still just as wild and very, very cheap. I always took a month off straight every year just to hang out like the old days, in the Orient. Very few vets where I spend most of my time, but over 40,000 in Philippines. Life's short; go for it.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but Project Delta (5th SFG) DET B-52, not Delta as in 1st SFOD-D, did exist in the RVN from the mid 60's until 1970. He (Uncle) may have been a member of that unit. It would be easy to check.
The present day Delta wasn't formed until the late 70's by Charlie B at Ft. Bragg, NC. And yes, Beckwith served in both and commanded both.
I know many who have served and this comes to mind for the OP and this topic - all are QP's (Quiet Professionals) with only a few exceptions like Haney, Dalton Fury, Boykin and 1 or 2 others who had to shoot their mouths off by writing a book, making a movie or landing a TV deal. Most are now considered PNG'd within the community.
Bottom line is this - doesn't matter whether you were a cook, tanker, pilot, ground pounder, special ops, mechanic, clerk etc. You served. Most in this country will respect it. What they won't respect is an "In your face" "Hey, look at me!" approach and neither will your fellow vets.
Just my .02 and change. -
Your right, of course but he specifically said Delta Force which was formed in 1977 by Col. Beckworth. The terminology could have been messed up as is common on this stuff but the awards claimed are not. They are such that it would be easy to confirm.
